Tampa Bay Rays - founded in 1998 make it to the World Series within 11 years

Florida Marlins - founded in 1993, won Two World Series within their first 11 years of existence

Wait 'til next year Cub fans!

You forgot this one:

White Sox - first place all year in an under-achieving division, yet bounced in the 1st round, just like the Cubs? Huh..... keep stroking yourself......

Actually lasted longer in the playoffs than the 'best team in the NL'.

Stick to the facts Goober. It's incomprehensible that the Cubs haven't made it back to the World Series in so long. Hell, the Canadian flippin team won a couple also.

You're right. 100 years since the last world series. OK.
What else you got? We already know that.

It's still a sad commentary on the Cubs organization.

Almost as sad as the losers like Slick Prick who need to post things like this every few days.

How about these?
Eleven MLB organizations that began after 1945 have made it to the World Series, and six have won World Championships.
Since 1945, 26 different MLB teams have appeared in the World Series and 21 have won championships.

Actually they were in the World Series in 1945 I believe. I do think they've got it in 'em until 2045 though..... Know the history of your team please.

History for the Sox is certainly not all sunbeams and candy.

But, who among us posters has seen the Cubs win a World Series? How about the Sox?

Touche.

However, by the phrase "has seen", I really meant "Has been alive when"

Winning the WORLD SERIES IN 2005 pretty much trumps your statement.
No one said that the White Sox were the Yankees. Most of the teams on the list that I provided didn't have great postseason success (Philadelphia, Boston, Houston, San Diego, Atlanta, Milwaukee, Cleveland to name a few), but all of them at least made it to the World Series.
The Sox don't have a great postseason winning tradition, but it's better than the North Siders.
Overall Numbers
World Series
Cubs 2-10 (10-28 in games)/White Sox 3-2 (17-13)
Playoffs (Non World Series)
Cubs 1-6 (9-22)/White Sox 2-4 (11-14)
Overall postseason game records
Cubs 28-55/White Sox 28-27
The Cubs have played 28 more postseason games than the White Sox, but they have the same amount of wins -- which is also 28 (freaky).
Two more things
Longest World Series drought -- Cubs.
Largest blown lead in a posteason game -- Cubs.
Chew on that history.

I don't understand how a team's poor performance can be used as an insult to the fans. For any team in any sport.

The Angels had the best record in the AL and got bounced in the first round. The Red Sox were defending champs and get eliminated in the ALCS. The Cubs were not the only team to disappoint their fandom this season. The Cubs got to the playoffs in consecutive years, for the first time in 100 years. Once again, they are NL Central Champs and they won 97 of 161 regular season games. With all the young talent they have as well as a fine returning core group of players, I expect them to remain in contention. It would be reasonable to say that a team that is in contention for the WS title year after year, should stand a great chance to win the series in the near future. With Hendry staying around for years to come and Lou around to manage the guys Hendry gives him, I am quite confident we will all see a Championship on the North side very soon.

Hey, the truth hurts but Slick is right. We also both blew it big time this year. So it's a draw.

Yes. The 2009 Attendance Championship.

And if it were the Cubs that won it all in 2005, it wouldn't be the "tallest midget"

im in no way comparing the cubs to anyone. their history of losing is in a league of its own.

but sometimes white sox fans go on such rants they sound like yankee fans (26 titles)
and they did go 88% as long as the cubs current drought

as bad as the cubs are and as hard as this is for sox fans to do
try and think of your team on its own without the cub comparison

the white sox didnt win one for 88 years and that is one of the longest droughts in the history of team sports

Nobody is denying the. Sox struggles. But the fact is that they ended thier drought. The Cubs had 2 golden chances to end thiers (03 and 08) and shit the bed. And again, IF it were the Cubs that won it all in 2005, they would have soared past Red Sox fans for the most annoying fanbase in sports.

And if the Cubs had won it all in 2003, or this past year, they would be annoying the hell out everyone.

marlins dbacks rays all going in 10 years or less
