My guess would be, somewhere around swapping 1st rounders and moving up in the 2nd round with a swap of picks.

The Bears gave up 2 first round picks, a 4th, and a 5th to move the same distance for Fields.

Doubtful that Pittsburgh is trading up for a QB which would reduce the compensation returned.

While I would find it extremely difficult to turn down another 1st round pick for 2024, they should be able to get another 2nd and mid-round pick (along with flipping picks).

According to the NFL point system, the Bears should receive a mid second-round pick in addition to the seventeenth overall pick if this trade with the Steelers takes place.

That sounds about right, maybe they squeeze out another Day 3 pick (maybe in 2024), but #17 and #49 make sense.

Nope. #32 top move up to #9. That's it. There is a clear drop off of talent too once you get out of the top 8-11 picks. Like Jerry Lundegaard once said, "They (Bears) hold all the cards"

Pittsburgh isn't trading #17 and #32 for #9. They would have to get back one of those late 2nd/early 3rd round picks.

Pittsburgh isn't the only game in town. Poles can wait.

I’ve read several mocks now that have a trade with the Steelers baked-in.

It’s getting to the point where I’ll be disappointed if it doesn’t happen.

Who is reporting on this trade? I haven't seen any of the national writers on this.

I would be more inclined to hold it depending on how the QB's fall. It's possible all 4 QB's are off the board by #9, but, if not, that could be an opportunity for Poles to trade down with a team looking to get one.

From what I’ve seen, I think it’s literally one rando with a podcast who reported it and then every other thing I’ve read points back to that guy.

So it’s probably bullshit.

I reported it about a month ago, before it was even a thought in the GM heads.

They are perfectly placed to start the run on offensive lineman after all the QB and top DL get picked. It's a good spot

Poles already found one desperate GM in Carolina, he just has to find another one on draft day that is willing to overpay for the #9 pick. The Steelers organization is fairly sharp, they likely give you market value, but it would seem if one of the QB's slip you would be one the phone trying to get the QB hungry franchises in a bidding war.

Steelers have a new GM this year. Not new to Steelers but first year in the hot seat.

Dane Brugler released his 7-round mock draft earlier today.

Here are his picks for the Bears:

1 (9): Jalen Carter, DT, Georgia
2 (53): Matthew Bergeron, OT, Syracuse
2 (61): Julius Brents, CB, Kansas State
3 (64): Derick Hall, Edge, Auburn
4 (103): Xavier Hutchinson, WR, Iowa State
4 (133): Luke Wypler, C, Ohio State
5 (136): Chase Brown, RB, Illinois
5 (148): Kobie Turner, DT, Wake Forest
7 (218): Ronnie Hickman, S, Ohio State
7 (258): Jose Ramirez, Edge, Eastern Michigan

I still don't believe Carter will slip to the Bears at #9, and I'm not sure they should take him if he does. Like MANY others here, I continue to believe that the Bears will trade back in the first round to acquire an additional pick this year or next year. Stockpiling picks for 2024 may be Poles' goal since it is a realistic possibility that he will want to move as high as possible in next year's first round to select a quarterback.

Bergeron strikes me as an interesting prospect in round 2. Brugler likes him quite a bit and believes he is an ascending player. I haven't watched his film, but Wypler seems like he would be a bit of a disappointing pick for center since he was routinely overpowered in college.

some reports out today saying Seahawks going for Carter with their pick.

I am in the camp that I expect the Bears to trade down if at all possible.

Seattle is the team most likely to grab him in the top 5 or 6, but can't rule out Detroit still.

I just think this is a great opportunity for the Seahawks to grab a QB, who doesn't have any pressure to start in year 1. Anthony Richardson seems perfect.

Anyway, everyone is lying.

Seahawks want people to think they are going D, so that they don't trade with the Cards to draft QB

Agreed. I am not sold on Gino Smith as a long-term (or even short-term) starter even though he played well last season for most of it. This would be a good opportunity to add a future starter.

Should have Poles held out longer?

What if you got #2, #12 and #33 from Houston for #1?

No, he should not have.

Houston has the same roster issues that the Bears have.

Poles spoke with them and the Panthers had the best offer.

The Panthers had the best offer in March, but Young is the clearly the best(Drew Brees) QB in this draft
