That’s fine.

You’re entitled to your opinion.

Do you see much joy when reading the board?

I reflexively assume anybody that dislikes S1 of Ted Lasso is too poor for Apple TV.

Great ep so far.

Update: ok over all. It’s the America of shows. Has great moments but can’t help showing how bad it sucks.

Seems to be heading towards Ted and Rebecca together.

Nate getting talked to by Rupert is gonna lead to something.

Pretty mediocre finale, and uneven season overall.

The beats were all obvious and didn't really make much sense.

Next season will be the last supposedly, so that's good.

Disappointing finale. Nate’s arc makes no sense.

This show isn’t even a comedy anymore. I have no idea what they’re doing but it’s clear it’s not trying to be funny.

It's trying to teach people to be good, like Barney.

I sat there watching for a good long while until it struck me that I was wasting time watching a show starring an actor I hate, about a sport I don't care about and a genre not meant for my consumption.

This is a chick show/soap opera disguised as comedy to lure in male watchers. The real strong indicator is the ratio of male:female nudity.

really enjoying the show through 2 seasons and like how the next season is set up. as mentioned before, the show is very wholesome. i'm noticing this becoming a trend for a lot of new shows. another recent example, that i am also enjoying through 2 episodes is "abbott elementary".

i've always liked jason sudeikis and this is a great character for him. the characters of roy, jamie, sam, rebecca, higgins, beard, and keeley are a strong bunch. nate the great (not so great anymore) has the most interesting side plot going forward.

the handling of the sport is also decently done. it sets up just the right amount of drama and situations that could play out in real life (except the lasso special play...that was just played for laughs obviously).

the pub fans and pub owner mae are also a nice added touch.

S2E9, though, sticks out as the worst episode. the holiday episode was fine as a one-off. definitely had some fantasy elements but for christmas, it was tolerable. but the coach beard through london was way, way overdone. and, skippable. you could miss that episode and not really miss anything.

but i am definitely all in for the next season.

:D :D :D out of :D :D :D :D

new season is here. watched the first episode so far. nate is pretty much set up to struggle as a manager, and ted is still going to be his cheerleader.

it feels like anthony head is looking unhealthy thin. i hope i'm wrong.

through 5 episodes, the show is taking a real big dip in quality writing and going for the easy "we think this is crowd pleasing". they must've really dug into the memos that this show is a "big warm bear hug" and ran with it. i mean, it was always a wholesome show. but they're really kicking it up to an insufferable notch in this season. characters are being stretched into unbelievable traits (even roy), and it's getting almost saccharine. nate is probably the most "real" character at this point, although they still keep ted somewhat in middle ground.

also, the introduction of a new "girl boss" and how she was cast will instantly make you think something will happen between her and another female character, and you'll be right. this is getting to be we-need-to-bring-a-baby-into-the-show level of desperation for shows. it may be the new "jumping the shark". "disenchantment", "atypical", "dead to me", "only murders in the building", and i'm sure a slew of other shows i haven't watched, have done this. it's forced, to the point of unnerving. and it's never two men, as if there's only some kind of "awakening" for female characters. i wonder if the lesbian population get offended by that assumption...

it's really a shame that even the really good shows are falling apart with bad writing and stupid antics. the only show i can think of that isn't doing this is "cobra kai".

This show fully sucks now. I watch it out of habit but it sucks.

Keely going lesbian makes sense. I’d watch a show about Rupert. Otherwise none of the characters are interesting and it’s mostly a collection of men acting like women. Lasso went from folksy midwesterner to Jeff Foxworthy for some reason.

It’s not even the lesbian/bisexuality that annoys me, it’s the contrivance. Characters are only brought in to new seasons to die or be a lame love story (and sometimes that ends up with one of them dying).

Plus make the boss a man and suddenly this becomes sexist and even probably rape.

we were going to watch the new episode last night but i saw that the run time is over an hour...they're checking every box of desperation and it's only the 3rd season.

brendan hunt proving to be a hack this quickly was surprising.

Apparently I am in the minority still enjoying the show BUT even I have to admit the latest episode was tough to get through. It definitely feels like they are straying from what made the show so good early on and getting sidetracked with all this other stuff, and it is frustrating. This newest episode really felt like a big waste of time to me, and again, I'm TRYING to give it the benefit of the doubt and hang in there.

This last episode existed for the cast to take a paid vacation to Amsterdam.

It’s like when Adam Sandler sets a movie in Tahiti so he can hang out with his friends in a nice place and get paid for doing it, only the end product was somehow worse.

i thought this week's episode was better; i liked sam's dad. but there were some things that weren't great.

"shut up and dribble". i know what they were trying to go for with this, but it doesn't work at all except as some kind of really contrived "bringing art into the real world" piece. sam is not the face of the franchise, and he's not even popular enough to make that much of a splash in social media. his restaurant isn't the biggest thing in london. but the prime minister, who is the most prominent political figure in england, claps back at him? the reason lebron james got the "shut up and dribble" backlash was because he was suddenly mr. politics and shot his mouth off. all sam did was respectfully @ the PM that he wanted everyone to respect each other. for her to come back with "shut up and dribble" is just really, really weak. it just clangs, like a bunch of other stuff this season has done.

total football. how in the world am i supposed to believe that professional footballers, who have been playing the sport since they were 5, don't know the history of this better than 2 americans who have spent less than 5 years in the country? that would be like some brit showing me the history of great QBs like montana, elway and marino and schooling me on how they changed the game. all of these guys would know about how the concept of "total football" came about, the way we know about tampa 2 in the NFL. and that gets me on another thing...which is the absurdity of how low-level the insight into the sport is in this show. i mean you really have to think i'm stupid that i'd believe these guys wouldn't know that jaime is basically explaining to his teammates that he wants to be a central attacking midfielder. all of them would understand this. sure, americans who watch the show may have all this go over their heads. but the people *playing the sport* in the show shouldn't.

the bait-and-switch on keeley and jack's relationship. i was actually somewhat intrigued by the notion that jack might turn out to be a lunatic, overbearing and needy girlfriend. but then it has to doubleback to make it sweet again. that's rubbish.

and finally, nate's heel turn was way, way too quickly undone. i don't think they really had any intention of making him a bad guy. but that would've been interesting. it could have given him an extra dimension. but these writers are just too stubborn and lazy (and cowardly) to pursue this avenue.

the hour long run-times are also a detriment to the show's pace. it really, really has bogged down the season.

they keep saying this show "may come back for a 4th season after a break". what, 2 years wasn't enough? yeesh. is it the final season or not?
