First album in 7 years, since "Hardwired...". It's definitely not as good as that, somewhere in between "Death Magnetic" and that. They've been producing pretty consistently listenable stuff since their "St. Anger" debacle.

No song really stands out but the whole 77-minute album is solid. Actually it's good workout music. But it would've been nice to have one stand-out song. The last song was probably my favorite, though it clocks in at over 10 minutes.

I remember when we all made fun of the Rolling Stones getting old in the 90's. They were in their late 50's when they did "Bridges to Babylon". Metallica has been around longer than the Rolling Stones were when they cut that album, and they can still rock pretty hard.

:D :D :D out of :D :D :D :D

Been on my list to give this a listen...all I've heard is Lux Aeterna and I think it's decent.

Agreed with your overall comments, but one exception. I'm in the small minority that thinks Death Magnetic is their 4th best album....yes, it's better than Justice
1. Puppets
2. Lightning
3. Kill 'em All
4. Death Magnetic
5. Justice
6. Black Album
7. Hardwired
8. Reload
9. Load

Load/Reload are Metallica Light, and St. Anger is some bizarro world Metallica that’s like…some 7th grader playdate project.

I've been a fan since Puppets came out....a time where only the fringe stoners liked Metallica. Unlike many of the "purists" from that era, I have zero issue with them maturing and the work that came out during the "Metallica Light" years. There's good music there.

The Black album is clearly their best album. I know it's not cool to say that but let's be real. That is all.

Agreed. All time terrible take right there. I can see arguing about puppets and justice but black? No.
