That seems low. I wouldn't call Young a bust though.

He was the 2nd overall pick, and you are trying to barter him for a 4th round pick. That seems like a bust to me

Buy low, my friend. He was a stud when he was healthy.

I'd for sure kick the tires, but he's a bust up to this point if they aren't going to offer him a 2nd deal

He was ROY so tough to say bust

He only has 1.5 sacks in his next 12 games. That's pretty bad irrespective of all his unavailability.

He might not even pass a physical for a trade.

It seems very simple to me, sign Ngakue and punt the position for another season.

That was my thinking. Furious says that isn't a guy you want in your locker room with young players.

If the 5th year option isn't picked up, that constitutes being a bust?

How fragile are our players? Big scary Carter is too much and now Ngakue. The guy is basically a hired gun, playing his career on one year contracts. We could probably even flip him for a 6-7 if things don't go well.

I'm not against bringing Robert Quinn back on a one year just to balance

Quinn is due to be good every other year and this would be an "on" year for him.

I agree with ya. Couple outliers though. Hassan Riddick.

Is Daniel Jones a bust?

Clowney would be interesting, it would depend on how much paper he would want, but he still can set the edge and may have a bit left in the tank, not the type of locker room guy that Poles likes, but the more angry large guys you have on D the better.

Poles is likely working the phones to see if he can snag a guy from a cap challenged team for a pick next year.

He's taken shots at guys that have underperformed, but fit his size/athleticism requirements like Leatherwood and N'Keal Harry, can see him doing that again at roster cut time.

A little off topic but has Leonard Floyd had a better career than Jadeveon Clowney? A quick box score look has Floyd with more sacks and 6 less QB hits in seven years than Clowney has in nine. Clowney with far more TFLs.

Jadeveon Clowney was a locker room cancer for the Browns. 0% chance they sign him

Newly minted 30 million dollar man , Nate Davis doesn't feel he has to show up at offseason workouts (and Eddie Jackson still being lazy)

Quote:
As the Bears conduct organized team activities at Halas Hall, they don’t have perfect team attendance.

Cornerback Jaylon Johnson, safety Eddie Jackson, receiver Darnell Mooney and guard Nate Davis weren’t present with the Bears for their practice Tuesday at Halas Hall.

Eddie Jackson is the last of the bad paper deals that Pace handed out, he's never gonna tackle anybody, but should still be solid in coverage and he will have to be because QB's will have all day to throw the ball against the pass rush challenged defense.

This is a big year for Jaylon Johnson, but it has seemed that he does not really mesh with the coaching staff, Poles moving up to draft a corner seems to indicate they are not real high on signing him to a big paper deal.

Starting to think Mooney will be limited early in the season, seems he is the latest Bear that was more significantly injured than thought, another guy where they seemed to know something and drafted with a similar skill set to replace him.

Poles has drafted 3 CB in his two drafts, two of them in the second round. His first pick as a GM was a corner. Jaylon Johnson can interpret that as he likes. I like Johnson a lot but he has 1 interception in three years and has missed 10 games. He will have a market next year but he isn't getting paid at the top of the market.

There is nothing behind Eddie Jackson at S besides two very late round picks from a conference that doesn't play defense. I don't see how they move on from him even next year.

Nate Davis better have a good excuse. I'd be really angry if I were Poles, unless they had an understanding.

Jaylon Johnson needs to learn how to catch. He's still likely our best corner.

Eddie Jackson looked like a better player last year. Not a $20M cap hit player.

Nate Davis is veteran. I'm okay with him not being there for now.

It is only one story but this saying Claypool is better is a huge need.

Eddie Jackson played better last year, but he is not worth that cap hit. Now coming off an injury and one good season (if you consider last year good) in the last 4 or 5.....That's a position that needs to be reviewed, but assuming his cap hit would be lesser in the future.

It's a voluntary mini-camp. I wouldn't fret over who is there and who isn't.

My obligations as a 30 year old were different than they were at 20. It's their time, not their employer's.

Fair point, but I don't think any of us are in a position to judge character based on who is or who isn't at a voluntary Bears workout.

It would seem they would like to greatly improve the short passing game, quick routes should open up as they play action off the zone run game, the question is will Fields see them and take advantage of the one on one with the RB on his checkdown if he reads the DBs dropping in zone.

Whitehair should at least be able to anchor and hold the point of attack, not sure if he is getting out to the second level at this stage of his career, but the long term answer at center does not appear to be on the roster.

If Wright can play they have two one cut big backs in Johnson and Foreman that should be able to cut off his inside shoulder as he turns the DE, Montgomery tended to chop his feet and let the hole close on him, this should be there all day in this offense.

I am guessing every team has people who miss the voluntary OTAs.

While not ideal it happens.

But if you are going to miss them, you better be good when the season gets here. If you no show on these things and then suck in the season you open yourself up to even more criticism.

Only a week into OTAs, Williams has noticed a difference from the other side of the field.

"A couple things," Williams said Wednesday at Halas Hall when asked about Fields' growth. "Leadership. Because that’s what you want in your quarterback. I see good decision-making. That’s what you want in your quarterback. I see improved accuracy. That’s what you want in your quarterback. And how fast he’s processing. That’s also the, in my mind, what you want in your quarterback. So from Day 1 last year to right now? From my standpoint, and I’m not a quarterback guru whatsoever, but I see how he has grown from last year to this year, and practice by practice by practice, he’s growing. So you have to be encouraged when you see those things."
