Prior to today, his previous 3 starts were pretty good.

Tigers , KC , Cleveland.

I understand what you are saying, but if you are sticking to "world series or bust", just turn off the TV. They need to replace half the roster to be a world series contending team. Considering a few of the pieces they have that could be on a world series team will likely be dealt in the next couple months, maybe even more than half the roster.

Just because his arm is in one piece doesn't mean he is able to pitch. His ERA is now 6.55 and he has a 1.51 WHIP. That's batting practice.

There are (2) options at this point: Either "retool", which I do not think that would go anywhere.... Or prepare for rebuild #2. The problem becomes, nothing is gonna change under JR, so both options suck.

So many problems with the White Sox.
The players that are supposed to drive this team are, and have been, fundamentally dumb in all phases of the game for years.
Having talented players on your roster is great. But given that almost none of these guys have produced at or near an all-star level for an entire year in the past 5 years leads any rational person to believe it probably isn't going to happen collectively and/or consistently. Good management should have realized and acted on this realization years ago.
I hope other teams are desperate for questionable production at the trade deadline and look forward to Rick Hahn fleecing me with the next White Sox non-rebuild/rebuild.

With the playoffs being so random, if you make the playoffs enough times you have a decent shot of winning a WS. Of course, that is the goal, but it's pretty much out of reach if they aren't even competitive in the worst division in baseball.

This team needs a lot more than a trade deadline sell off of upcoming free agents. It needs a major retooling, but I wouldn't expect them to rebuild, which is what is needed. Looking at the rotation, they need to replace several players for next season - Lynn, Giolito and Clevinger are all likely to be gone after this season. Maybe Crochet is one of these replacements to go with Cease and Kopech, but it's lacking a top end starter (sad to say with Cease's regression this season) and would be full of question marks.

They still have a glut of DH's attempting to play 1B/RF. They need to move two of Jiminez/Vaughn/Sheets/Burger. Is Moncada the 3B going forward? He can't stay healthy and has underperformed. Does anyone expect the White Sox to pay Tim Anderson and should they? Who's catching?

So many questions....Will Hahn continue his pattern of loading up on veteran bullpen arms?

The bullpen arms has been a thing going back to Kenny, which is why he gets blame and why he is likely still involved.

Andrew Cisco, Mike MacDougal, Jesse Crain, etc...

I say re-tooling based on having to shed some terrible contracts, and having so much committed to players like Moncada and now Benintendi. You have to get rid of Anderson, Giolito, Clevenger, and Kelly. I say Anderson based on how much SS are getting in FA, and he is not worth that amount. But Hahn and Kenny will fuck this up.

The problem is no one is going to give you shit for Anderson right now , you’ll be selling at his all time low point

They have had guys here and there that have worked out, but yes....Kenny loves the guys that throw 100mph and have to have TJ surgery.

That is a trade that would make zero sense for either team so its perfect that you suggested it.

Giolito back being our best starter. Cease has the highest hard hit ball rate in MLB cuz every count has a 3 in it. Kopech ....same. Lynn, after some recent decent starts, decided to hit bats just as square as he possibly could. A complete success, as a couple of them went 480 ft.

The morning show said Romy Gonzalez has the highest hard-hit rate on the team this year. Yikes.

Hard Hit Rate can be misleading.

Grandal hits a lot of balls hard, they are just on the ground and right at a middle infielder.

Unfortunately, Garcia is probably being budgeted against their payroll this season. As much as they will tell you that you have to earn a roster spot, and Garcia didn't do that so they are in the business of winning a WS, it's not as if they are replacing him with a clear upgrade since they are not able to increase their payroll to improve the roster and are selling us on minor league talent in the majors.

Didn't Stoney suggest Katz is either the best or one of the best pitching coaches in the league?

The only 2 options for Sox fans. Do you want minor league talent in the majors or major league talent playing like minor leaguers?

CFMB analysis at its finest. They scored two runs in five innings against a guy who had over an 8 era at Toledo. Then managed a run in 3 innings against a garbage bullpen.
