It's true though. Not any real options if they want to play golf and make that kind of money.

Long term, not a lot they could do. Short term, to at least make a statement, a mass exodus from the US Open?

Agreed, worth watching.

Word is Greg Norman will not have a place in the new organization.

Why is Bernstein and Larry so angry about this. And why talk to Florio about it thinking the Saudis will raid the NFL?

Hard not to argue.

I’d like to understand (sincerely) why he thinks an extremely sharp Saudi investment arm is going to pony up a fuck-ton of cash with no say in how that cash is spent.

Then why did they need Greg Norman? Yes, they have the money but it doesn't mean they know the business of golf.

The same reason Chinese firms hire white people to engage with western businesses.

The spigot is a drip, and barely a drip at that. Very few were sponsoring LIV. The Saudi's need to see a return on their investment. They weren't going to get that with little to no sponsorship, and LIV telecasts shown via tape delay. As long as they make money, the Saudi's probably don't care how the cash is spent.

They won't have no say, they will have a voice, but it is my understanding that Jay will be the CEO and the PGA will have more board members. I don't think the PIF is particularly interested in overseeing the day-to-day operations of the PGA Tour.

That’s a good question right. I guess some PGA tour execs are on the Board or whatever governing body, but the Saudis own 100% of the equity. Not too hard to shitcan a few execs and the the new Saudi appointed Board controls how the money is spent.

The Saudis killed a journalist, so LIV is a crime against journalists.

PIF also have total veto power on any new investors. According to simple Frank and HawgAss a big W for the PGA.

No big surprise here but the plot thickens a bit.....

Barely a day after the PGA Tour shocked the world by announcing it would be joining a for-profit venture with its heretofore hated rival—the Saudi-backed LIV Golf—a Congressional bill has been introduced to strip the tour of its tax-exempt status.

On Wednesday afternoon, Rep. John Garamendi (D-Calif.), the third-ranking minority member on the House Armed Services Committee, proposed the “No Corporate Tax Exemption for Professional Sports Act,” which would end the PGA Tour’s ability to file as an IRS 501-C organization, as it has done for decades.

That's fine as long as they tax churches too.

As long as they keep believing that sports will clean up their world image they will be happy.
