It certainly seems like that after the fact. Given his passion around a few topics both sports and non sports it never occurred to me that a guy with serious serious health issues could be that passionate and vociferous while near the end. He was obviously very strong and it showed.

Yes, it is absolutely shocking. Such a talented and witty person. What a loss.

He was such an interesting guy. Very sensitive and big hearted when you got to know him.

But his life was so amazing in a number of ways. He was African American, Lithuanian and Native American.

Graduated from high school at 16, and Northwestern Law at 22.

He hung around personally with guys like Arnie Duncan, Kwame Raoul and JB Pritzker.

If he graduated law school at 22 that puts him in his early 50's. Way too young. Must have been a real bad form of cancer. F cancer.

Man what a gut punch. I remember him referring at times to some struggles but did not realize it was to that level. He was a must read around here. I rarely agreed with him but loved to get his thoughts and loved to poke at him and he was always good to poke back.
