This course is being eaten alive - it was supposed to be the other way around.

Weather forecast so far does not favor the course. -18 or lower could be the winning score.

LACC is supposed to host in 2039; wonder how much things will change by then?

Would you like to make a wager that -18 under wins?

That is a horse abortion.

I was looking forward to seeing if I could find some streaming coverage when I got home from Virginia this afternoon and then I heard Fowler's score and that was the end of that.

Looks like the pins were in easy locations today. I'm guessing the course plays harder as the tournament progresses. Seems like some of you guys want windmills on the greens.

I just want these guys to be challenged once a year.

Golf is such a weird sport. It’s so difficult for most of us that the idea of being adequate - literally doing what you’re supposed to do, shooting par - is a pipe dream.

I like the idea that a course can be shaped in such a way that even the best players on the planet have a hard time playing even par. No other tournament will do that aside from this one.

I get that, but it's a fine line between making it challenging for the players and tricking out the course to the point that it's no longer a fair test of golf. The USGA will see these scores today and the course will be set up differently tomorrow. It will also get faster and firmer as the USGA likes to do. I will be shocked if we see these low scores the rest of the weekend.

yes I want to see the best players in the world completely frustrated by conditions and outwardly annoyed. Just like every other golfer on a random Sunday.

That's what I want from my US Open. One weekend a year where the pros get their asses collectively kicked. Don't think that's too much to ask.

there are a LOT of birdies to be made.

Rory shot 67, with 4 bogies.

The "par is a good score" guy is going to get lapped.

No need for windmills, the sun is out and breezes are picking up.

And they had to get 156 golfers through two rounds on a compacted course. It was set up easy the first two days to help facilitate that. I will take any bet on the under -18.

I don't get why anybody would take that bet. Hitting -18 would be a minor miracle, wouldn't it?

Yeah, but someone put it out there so I am willing to take it.

I suspect the weekend should slow the scoring a bit but still disappointing thus far. Hope to watch more today. It’s been a bit hard to follow the flow of the course with guys starting on both sides. Whatever the score I’d just like to see more guys in the mix at the end. Hoping Rickie can hold on but MANY holes to go.

So only 29 out of 156 players broke parvthru 36 holes, how many end up under Par after Sunday. My guess is 15 or less.
