What in the world? Talk to Jerry? Who is talking to Jerry about a lineup?

I know he hasn't been given a great roster to work with, but I think Grifol is in over his head.

If you're really trying to win, stop using Lopez and Lynn on the mound.

Is someone hurt as the reason for Banks starting?

Was Lynn supposed to start? He got put on the bereavement list today.

I checked the Sox website and did not see the reason for Banks starting. I am watching the Cubs, so I have not heard the Sox broadcast.

The reason Banks is starting is because the White Sox are a lousy ball club.

Well at least you got that they're better than the cubs. Oh shit... wait... nevermind.

Definitely seems like he is in over his head.

Makes it worse when there was a report referenced on the SCORE recently saying that Bruce Bochy had significant interest in the Sox job and was basically told not interested. Then you hire a bench coach from the Royals?

Crazy stuff.

After that scary comebacker to graveman I think Grifol should have made a slow walk mound visit. I'm sure his heart is pumping hard and the adrenaline is jacked at that point. Give him a minute.

At this point I think that all of the teams in the Central division in the AL should have their season cancelled by edict. None of them have even 5 above average players on their roster. Some less than five. So just kill their season as a kind of mercy killing. They are basically shitcanning Oakland for Vegas. Maybe roll the dice and cull the AL Central down also? Maybe put all of the players in a bowl and have a draft and give any players who are actually talented and motivated a chance to get drafted by a decent team with decent ownership?

I know they have to sell but it is depressing to think that Hahn is going to be in charge of yet another teardown

You sure? Because the manager told us something that's kinda sounds like Hahn is locked in the closet.

I sincerely hope this is not going to be another "let's trade our established guys for A Ball players" tear down. I would like to see them acquire guys who are set to come up this year or next.

Assuming it's not a complete implosion sell off though, I would think they aren't trading Cease or Robert. Who else is going to get them meaningful, almost ready prospects?

Giolito?
Some deal that breaks up the 1B/DH logjam (Eloy, Burger, Sheets, Vaughn)?
If he comes back and has a good month, Hendricks?
A couple middle relievers maybe, but nobody that's going to be a "blockbuster" trade.

Anderson and Moncada have been hurt and bad
Nobody wants the catchers
majority of bullpen is bad

Trade, don't trade, this is unsolvable. The hierarchy has no clue about winning baseball. Even if JR woke up tomorrow and said, I'm going to buy a World Series, it probably wouldn't work. It's not like the old Yankees when they bought baseball players. Today you buy swingers and throwers, not baseball players.

If you want to buy something, how about the Rays GM.

Count the baseball players on the White Sox, let me know the total. I count like 6 or 7 and a couple of them are bad at it, but they understand it at least. We have the least basebally catcher I've ever seen in my life.

I'll give you a bag of balls, but you have to eat most of the remaining money!!

The GM is only part of the problem. As long as Kenny and Jerry are still around, nothing will change.

This team needs a complete makeover - despite all of the individual talent that the team supposedly has, it hasn't worked as a team since the 2021 all-star break. I don't expect a complete rebuild, more of an attempt to retool with some veteran relievers traded, Giolito moved for a player or two who could be in the majors soon and letting Lynn move on unless there is a major turnaround.

Does anyone have numbers on payroll for next season? If Lynn leaves and they move a few relievers, how does that balance vs. raises/arbitration? We know they aren't going to spend much more than they currently are and they have no minor league help coming so it's going to be difficult to see how they turn anything around quickly.

Last off-season, Hahn said the team would be busy in the trade market, but horribly misjudged other teams willingness to spend on free agency vs. making trades. He has spent way too much on relievers in the past and that can't be repeated and they insist on building rosters with a glut of 1B/DH types. Too many players are just not trusted to stay healthy....They will likely enter next off-season with 2 starting pitchers for certain and holes at 2B, RF and C and little/no help coming from the minors.

How do you rebuild or even re-shuffle with no minor league talent, a payroll that has been maxed out and a roster that has been poorly constructed?

This looks very ugly.

Until ownership changes or they hire an outside President, nothing is gonna change. They might get rid of Hahn or kick him upstairs, but they will promote Getz.
