Its bad. Not near as bad as 101, but its bad. 11-1 in October helped erase a lot of that pain though.

Also don't forget the Rockies who made it there last year.

the dodgers are dead!! after all the talk the last week; dodgers, manny, manny vs red sox world series, certainly everyone in the state of california was convinced this was the dodgers destiny...well it was a disasterous series for the dodgers and a delirious 4 wins for the phillies.

You've got it all wrong Frank. Everybody loves the Cubs. It would have been a national holiday if the Cubs had won the World Series. People would make movies - write folk songs about it.

It's only White Sox fans that are annoyed by the Cubs.

I suspect, probably because nobody remembers that they won the World Series except their own fans and a couple guys that were on the team.

It would certainly be as big as the Red Sox winning, and that stuff went on for the whole next year...

Yes. The 2009 Attendance Championship.

And if it were the Cubs that won it all in 2005, it wouldn't be the "tallest midget"

If the cubs won the WS in 2005, I wouldn't be obsessing about the White Sox.

D-Backs, Marlins, Rockies and Rays.

All expansion teams who started less than 20 years ago - all in the World Series.

Jeezus Frank. You're supposed to wait until some dingleberry brings up the popularity of the Cubs before you fire off that witty retort. Timing Frank, timing.

Outta you and your similarily Napoleanic complex inflicted Sox bretheren, perhaps. Besides, given the attention the Cubs DO get from some Sox fans, it would appear that they already do annoy the hell out of you.
When the Cubs do win it all... damn. Couch time will be rented out by the square inch per minute.

Where did mindless and pointless banter about Cubs/Sox used to be on the priority list? :)

Okay, yerhonner, try this one.
My timing was excellent. Immediately upon reading such prattle, I skewered it with my rapier sharp wit. 8)

The same place where it is rapidly ascending to once again... to a place far too high on the list of things to do given it's idiocy.

What is the deal with this expression?
I've heard sports talk radio hosts use it or derivations of it like "wet the bed," crapped their pants," etc.
Telander, of the masterful writing skills and superior intellect, even used the expression in a recent column.
What the hell does having an accident in bed or in your pants have anything to do with losing an athletic contest?

It's a metaphor along the lines of being thrown under the bus. I do not recall the historical precedent where someone was disowned/abandoned and literally thrown under a bus to prove their new status as shit outta luck.
You want to crap your pants? No. It's publicly humiliating.
You want to lose (badly) on National TV? No. See above.

It's scatalogical origins just give it the added elan in a decidedly low brow manner.
