Don't think the NFL wants the McKaskey family and an antiquated Soldier Field exposed. They likely want to give the new team president and GM a few years to George/Ted proof and upgrade the operation before allowing the cameras to roll.

even though they have rules in place for exemptions and who is eligible for hard knocks, I have to believe the Bears get special treatment when they tell the league "No."

They should've had it at least once since the shows inception and they were eligible based on being shitty. Too much drama they dont want to be seen. Primarily inept at hiring GMs, coaches, drafting players, running a team competently, etc
