I haven't dunked in about ten years - and I was two inches shorter back then (if you'll pardon the expression).

I'm pretty sure I could still get the bottom of the net. Although, I haven't been on a court for probably at least a year and a half....

I could dunk (I used strength shoes) back in junior year, but I broke my foot soon after (prolly no coincidence). Now I'm just your run of the mill white slow jump shooter.

I gradually have lost what little footspeed I had in h.s. 10 years ago, so now I just miss a ton of 3's and make my teammates mad...

Does the gym rent by the hour or for a block of time, say 3 hours?
Assuming we get 12-15 people there and have 2 teams going, how
long do you think we can hold out for? 2 hours maybe? Most likely
no way we would go past 3 hours. Maybe this will help us figure out
what time we should start this thing. Personally I am coming from an
hour away but I am willing to start whenever. I don't think there are
any real high profile football games or anything to try to plan around
watching afterwards. As long we we can find a place relatively close
by with a variety of cold beverages and maybe a few tables we could
push together that sounds good to me for afterwards. You all sound like
you know the landscape down there better than I.

glad you asked, T-Bone. After more than 20 calls, I finally got ahold of the gym. Nov 22nd, 1-3 PM is the best block I could get. The morning is shot for that day as they have youth basketball until 1. The gym closes at five. The cost is more expensive than I thought; it's $100/Hr. So two hours is probably a good time block, unless everybody wants to pony up more money per person. I did reserve it, and we would need to pay the day of. My guess is we wouldn't get kicked out if we stuck around past 3 a little.

Thanks COF for getting that done. That time works for me and it gives me a few
hours to stretch out.

I think three hours would be cool if we get enough people to show...

we do have that flexibility since we can pay at the door. I just don't want people showing up with no cash...honest math with 13 confirmed people for three hours would roughly be $23/ea...so I guess that's not too much...

i don't think i, personally, could play for a straight three hours, but i think if we have enough people there, three hours might be the way to go. 30m to an hour for shooting around and chatting, with two hours to get a good game or two in.

If we have enough for some 3 on 3 games and they have short courts available (so basically if you have a full court and have two hoops on each side of the court) you could do 3 on 3 for a while on those courts and then play the full court for the last 90 minutes or so.

Guys, I have some bad news. I may out for hoops. Last week while at a conference, I was told I looked Jewish. After conferring with several local rabbis, they think it may be true. Therefore, if I am verified as a Jew, I will be busy with Sabbath. Ill keep you guys in touch as we move forward.
