If you are going to say that Henry and Kmet are both bad contracts because of their production then there are very few TE contracts that aren't bad unless it's a rookie deal or Kelce or Kittle.

Yes... dont pay non difference makers difference maker money. This isn't some gotcha by you, it's just common team building sense

Andrews is not a bad contract though. There are a few others.

are you saying that Kmet contract is difference maker money? I'm not sure if you were or not so I don't want to assume

Only 4 tight ends in the NFL have more guaranteed money than Kmet just got. Yes I think paying a guy top 5 guaranteed money at his position is difference maker money.

I like FF making an argument that Kmet got a better contract than George Kittle.

I'm pretty sure that's NOT the argument he's making, but he does have a point. $32 million guaranteed is difference maker and Kmet has shown ZERO signs of being a difference maker.

Kmet slides into 5th there amigo.

Kittle got $30 million guaranteed. The $40 million is only for injury which Kmet hasn't had announced yet or you should be using the fully guaranteed column.

$32.8 million > $30 million.

He's been a difference for the Bears opponent a few times though.

I've always gone by the total guarantees, not fully guaranteed, but using your method Kmet comes in 2nd in the NFL in terms of top paid TEs - so either way it backs up my point. Kmet was unequiovocally paid difference maker money for the position.

That's a more relevant analysis of compensation for older players with no expectation of finishing their contract. I suppose you could say he is being paid 23 million this year and call it difference maker money but that would hardly be an honest analysis, either.

I gave you the honest, objective analysis. Feel free to do all the gymnastics you want to justify it as somehow not being difference maker money.

You gave an objective but dishonest analysis because you know the inconvenient truth of 360 degree analysis of the contract.

So you are going with gymnastics. Hope you stretched well beforehand.

You are making an argument that Kmet is now one of the highest paid tight ends in the whole league. The point is that your use of guaranteed money, while technically correct, doesn't reflect the reality of how he is paid compared to his peers especially since he signed his contract after them.

Oh another post where I'm correct but you are finding a way to argue. You and dolphin are amusing when you get dug in on a dumb bears take.

No, you are correct on one aspect of the contract while ignoring the fact that he is making less than many other TE's in terms of average salary.

It's like saying DeShaun Watson is the highest paid player in the league because he has the highest guaranteed money.

Irrelevant. Kmet isn't worth $50 million right now.

In the NFL, his production seems to merit roughly what he is going to make especially since he signed later than those other guys.

There are really only two TEs worth paying big money too.

Every cap analyst will tell you the same thing - guaranteed money is all that matters.

But if we go by annual salary it still is an unjustifiable overpay. It's not hard to find a TE to get you 600 yards.

So who is the highest paid player in the league?

9 teams found a guy like that last year. Cole Kmet's new contract currently has the 9th AAV for TE. Enjoy the symmetry.

1st, 9th, or 30th in AAV, Kmet isn't worth $50 million.

Yep. Even with excess $$$ to spend. A good/great player will see that and start sucking their teeth at Poles.

You're all in on Bears Jimmy Graham. I hope you are right. I still won't like this contract even if he's great.

I do agree the Bears will prioritize TE in next years draft still. You saw it with the Bills having to spend a 1st on TE after handing out the dumb Knox paper. I would expect this to go similar.

I appreciate your graciousness.

I would love have Bowers and could stomach Kmet with a $7-8M contract for a couple of years. Who's throwing them the ball?

I like what I hear from all of the Bears receivers. If Fields can figure things out, I really believe this could be a top 10 offense.

There was less than 10 such TE's in the NFL last year.

And the Packers top 2 TE's didn't total 600 yards between them.
