I tend to agree. Games finishing under three hours has been great, but I don't think it's bringing any new people to the game. Also, people like me would be watching even if the games were three hours plus. It's going to be the NHL when it's all said and done, if it's not there already.

You would think these statements make sense, but everything shows that attendance for MLB games has continued to rise for almost every team. The A's and the White Sox are the only ones going backwards in attendance, and even the Sox had ~20% higher attendance in June 2023 vs June 2022.

Good. I hope it continues. I just have my doubts that it will.

Baseball will be a solid #3 sport in the years to come.

I thought it be more like golf or tennis but there’s just enough of an interest in the youth to keep it relevant.

And it’s like the only major sport left that gives white kids a fair chance to succeed. Sorry I said it oh well.

Everybody likes a summer picnic. The picnic isn't the problem.

I don't disagree. But it's predicated on Jose Abreu doing Jose Abreu things. Otherwise, it's somebody out of the AL East.

With huge contracts more teams are loading up with cheap low 200s or below ba guys. I've never seen so many of these guys in starting lineups MLB wide. Even with poor slashlines they stick around. Shills like Boog prop them up with insignificant positive data or label them as leaders, or good clubhouse guys.

I was thinking about throwing down some money on a couple teams with long odds. FanDuel had the Red Sox at +10000 on Saturday. I woke up today to see their odds cut in half at +5000. Taking 2 out of 3 from a 3rd place NL Central team shouldn’t do that.

There’s value though with some of these teams in the wild card hunt now that there’s 3 teams that make it and no one and done elimination game anymore.

I think he’d need at least 4 more quality years to get there and he’s 40 years old.

So, sure. Why not? It’d be kind of fun to see him out there at 46-47 trying to get to a number.

He'll probably get his 300th win in late September of 2026 for the 75-83 White Sox.

There were similar critiques on Machado and Harper. That's kind of dried up. But I agree 3 of those 5 didn't deserve the payday they got.

a whole new understanding of have a day.

Complete game 1 hit shutout in game 1 of DH.

2-3 with 2 HRs in game 2 of the DH.

Ohtani is simply amazing.

Last time there was a player like this was 104 years ago on the Red Sox. Stats are pretty much similar, Ohtani maybe a slight edge.

I just saw Heyman reporting that baseball is attendance is up 9% this year, that is a pretty substantial jump.

Good. I hope it continues. I just have my doubts that it will.
I saw a Tweet yesterday and now of course I can't find it.

Anyway, it showed that only the White Sox and Nationals have had a decrease in attendance vs last season. Both these teams are dumpster fires, and I commend the fans for staying away.

Even the A's are up slightly believe it or not. The biggest jump was the Reds with an increase of 60%. Overall attendance is up 9% this season which is the biggest jump since the steroid race of 1998.
