The lords of Dogtown was a great movie, came out in 2002 I believe.

I think I would have liked it more if I hadn't seen the documentary Dogtown and Z-Boys first. The movie was good; the doc was great.

Yeah the movie was pretty bad and Chasing Mavericks is the same compared to the docs. Hollywood will never get it right because they aren't surfers or skateboarders...or racers. Riding Giants, Z-Boys, and Bones Brigade are all great docs even if you aren't into skating or surfing. Peralta is a good film maker and he was in the scene so he knows what he's talking about.

Stoked was good but I thought a little sympathetic to Gator. It was really good for what it showed of the skating scene at that time though.

Z-Boys flamed out pretty fast but there's still a giant mural of Jay Adams on Venice Blvd. Jeff Ho opened a new shop around 2010 or so and I bought some Zephyr shirts. He didn't have any boards there yet but he was shaping in Hawaii. I went back 6 months later and it was gone.

Yeah, Dogtown and Z-Boys is a remarkable documentary, one of my all-time favorites.
