Very Good news.

Which of his 6 receptions last year was your favorite?

He isnt being signed to catch the ball. He is considered a really good blocking TE. He will be some extra help in blocking.

He is a solid addition. Good team guy. I'm just not sure what the thought process is though when they seem to be signing older guys to 1 yr contracts. Are they just bridge guys or do they think they have a chance this season?

Based on the way the OL is playing in training camp so far, it sounds like they need it.

It'll piss off the Packers. He was a fan favorite. Plus, we'll learn their offense. It also means we don't believe Fields can pass.

I never understood the concept of a blocking-only TE. I assume any time he's out there, the defense is adjusting and now you its essentially 11-10 because Fields isn't throwing to him.

Yesterday felt like the Bears media was a runaway train of excuses for the offense suckage. Fields saying that the offense isn't going to look as good because they aren't scheming against the defense seems like its pretty damning that Fields isn't reading progressions and/or can't read the defense.

Nope that dog wont hunt . It’s the coaching staff’s fault for not putting Fields in positions where he can be successful

Maybe he'll see a lot of second team defenses during the regular season. Positive attitude Hova!

This is going to be hard to believe coming from me but these daily reports are ridiculous. Whether or not the offense is good or bad tells nothing in how theyre going to do during the season . Only thing ill say is that im guessing the training camp D knows that Fields wont be running much so he’s probably easier to defend because they know he’s passing . That being said , if he’s missing reads and open receivers regardless of what the defense is doing , that might be a problem.

Yeah I have not read anything on it all. I read comments here but thats about it. I do not care how he looks in practice. I dont care how he looks in preseason. I want to see him in the first 4 games of the regular season. That will tell us the story. Either he is progressing into a real QB or we will be looking for a new QB in the 24 draft.

That's fair. However, Fields knows he won't get hit and this 2nd unit is filled with guys who aren't NFL players.

Fields works best under pressure. Start the game with a 2min offense and keep it there the whole game.

Nate Davis out again. What on God's earth possessed them to think that was a good signing?

Dollar, dollar bills y’all.

As in fewer of them than you’d have to pay somebody who’s legitimately good.

Didn't fields look horrible in training camp last year too once they put the pads on? Seems like he's awesome 7 on 7 when no one's rushing him lol

Fields was not awesome in 7 on 7s during OTAs or earlier in training camp.

I have a hard time getting too worked up over this stuff. He’s a running QB. That’s impossible to effectively replicate in a controlled practice.

The whole team is making mistakes right now, but Fields is still having trouble getting rid of the ball and throwing accurately on a consistent basis. The same problems he had last year have been evident in training camp. It's who he is as a passer--not good enough. The only thing we can hope for is that he finally "gets it" at some point this season. But this is already shaping up to be another lost year for Bears fans.

We've already seen where that will get us. He'll make some spectacular plays with his feet mostly against lesser teams or in the early part of games against better teams. But when he is forced to make plays in the passing game, he will fail.
