Fans, with the Tampa Bay Rays & Philadelphia Phillies closing in on the World Series, those groaning sounds you might be hearing in the background are executives from FOX Sports in Los Angeles & ESPN Radio in Bristol, CT. MLB's postseason ratings on TBS in the Division Series alone were down 22%, and likely hasn't been much better with the upstart Rays & Red Sox in the ALCS. FOX's NLCS ratings between the Phillies & Dodgers hasn't been much better, and will likely be dwarfed tonight when Barack Obama & John McCain have one more debate in Hempstead, NY before the November 4th Presidential Election. Barring a miraculous comeback by the Sox & Dodgers, the likely Rays/Phillies' World Series could be one of the lowest rated "Fall Classics" in TV history.

Will anyone be watching other than Tampa/St. Pete & Philadelphia? I think not, but FOX Sports' bosses are hoping this World Series is a long one... Recent MLB history seems to think a sweep for one of the teams.

I'll be watching. This will be a fun WS because I like watching both teams so I can just sit back and enjoy some really good baseball. I think the Rays will win because of their homefield advantage but the Phillies will give them a good fight.

I concur. The clearly weak NL will win this WS.

All games should be on during the evening. If there are games scheduled for the same day, have one start at 6:00 PM CT, and start the other one at 8:15 PM....Enough of those 3:30 PM games, nobody who has a job is able to watch these games.

I'll take that.

This is not the national league. Myers, Moyer and Blanton are going to get absolutely ripped by the Rays.

Rays in 6 with Hammels winning two games for the Phils.

I could care less who wins, but I think the Rays win in 6

Being a Chicagoan I can I not watch the WS??? If you only watch Ws that involve Chicago it would have been the 2005 Series. Couldn't watch the '59 Series we didn't have a TV yet.How many great moments and games would I have missed by not watching the Fall Classic. The Fisk Homer,Brooks plays at 3rd, Bob Gibson, and Kirk Gibson. I will watch the Series and love it!

ESPN Radio's Jon Stashower mentioned in a top-of-the-hour "SportsCenter" yesterday about "rest vs. rust" pertaining to the World Series last year. The Rockies took care of business right away vs. the Diamondbacks in the NLCS last year, but got swept by a Red Sox team that got more than they bargained for from the Indians in the ALCS. With that in mind & with recent MLB history, I think the Rays win in a 4 game sweep, just like Boston did in '07 and the White Sox in '05, of course. The Cardinals beat the Tigers in 5 in '06.

This crappy center field camera view is pissing me off. It's too high and too far to the left.

I'll always watch the World Series. I never get why people don't. Of course I want my Sox to be in it. But if not it doesn't matter to me who's playing. What? If these Rays players were in Red Sox uniforms it makes it more interesting? Why? I never get that. But it's true for people. These will be low ratings. Doesn't matter to me. It's the World Series. I'll always watch.

Beardown, there are more options for you & me to watch than ever before. Among the options opposite Game 1: "NFL Replay: Colts/Packers" on NFL Network, "Countdown with Keith Olbermann" on MSNBC, "The O'Reilly Factor" on FOX News Channel, 2 episodes of "Boston Legal" on ION (formerly PAX TV), and "Beer Money" on Comcast SportsNet. Those were some of the options opposite what seems like a yawner of a World Series between the Phillies & Rays...

it cracks me up when they show the "forlorn" tampa bay fans randomly in this game.

how did anyone become a passionate tampa bay fan? they've been around for 10 years, sucked for 9 of them, and they can barely fill half the stadium either way.

i attribute their success to my parody song about them this year...they should thank me.

W_Z, your guess is as good as mine. They've had more cowbell for some weird reason. Maybe it had to do with the "Saturday Night Live" episode where Christopher Walken yelled "I've gotta have more cowbell!" :?

Why would you say this is a yawner of a World Series? This game is a good one. Rays have a lot of young players that, if they aren't already, are gonna be super stars.

This was a good man. Man the Rays have some arms in that 'pen.

I still say Phillies in 5

The Rays have scored 3 runs on groundouts tonight. Situational hitting, what a concept. The Sox would've had 2 strikeouts and a popup on the infield.

I don't think the Phillies have a single run with runners in scoring position in the first 2 games of the World Series...

It hasn't gone exactly as planned, as Myers did not get ripped, still it is following the course I predicted. Game 3 is going to be critical for the Phils because I think Blanton will get lit up.

I think the opposite. Blanton will pitch well and Moyer won't see the 5th inning. Regardless, if the Phils continue to hit 1-24 with RISP, the Rays are gonna win the next 3 games.

I think they are both going to have problems Frank. Blanton was reborn when he came to the NL and Moyer has been avoiding the AL like the plague. I think he knows what would happen if he came back into the league.

I think the crafty lefty is going to throw a good game. He can tie some of TB's young hitters in knots.

Good Game 3. Great series so far.

Upton is awesome. Infield hit. Stole 2nd. Stole 3rd. Scored on a throwing error while trying to get him at 3rd. Tied the game, with that run, 4-4 in the 8th.

What a dumb ass. Werth, of the Phillies, gets picked off, on 2nd, with one out in the 8th, in a tie game

Phillies had a guy on 2nd with no outs in the 8th and couldn't score. Going to the 9th in a 4-4 tie.
