Bob's beloved WAR says that Hoerner is better. This is another example of how looking at only one stat can be a bad way of evaluating things.

Interesting the Subdivision uses positional defense to shit on Grandal every chance they get, but doesn't acknowledge it when it comes to Hoener ... Fucking a group of John Kerry's here.

You can't make this shit up

Hoerner is 4th in WAR amongst all 2nd baseman in MLB. It's ok, you have Elvis "the game changer" Andrus.

He’s a 99 OPS+ guy, which makes him almost exactly average. He’s a career 97, so slightly below average, but I’m willing to bump him up.

That makes him an average hitter, but you realize for position players there is more to the game than hitting right?

Sure. And I’m balancing his slightly below average hitting with his slightly above average fielding at 2B.

Seems fair.

In his best season, he scratched the top tercile in dWAR.

You’d think we’re talking about Roberto Alomar here.

I don't believe the Subdivision is familiar with infield defense. They haven't seen it in the while.

Maybe you're right but I haven't watched a random game in two months because more often than not, it's unwatchable. Might as well take RS off the books.

White Sox are the worst defensive team I've ever seen and they're only 7th worst in MLB. I mean, if the CARDINALS DON'T GIVE A SHIT, it's over.

 C'mon. How can there be a half dozen teams worse than the Sox? How fucking bad at math are these baseball nerds? Is there a team playing with only 8 in the field we don't know about?

Bob doesn't use baseball reference, and the fangraphs filter I used ended in June. My mistake.

However, Hoerner is 6th in WAR with all MLB second basemen, and 5th in NL second basemen.

If a bootlicker and a vaccinated genius don't think highly of me as they continue to run up their White Sox post count, well that's a compliment more than anything

you could probably point to them drafting him in the first place

He was a . 316 career hitter for them and ideal number 2 hitter . Seeing as how second base has been a disaster for them since the trade , I certainly cant point to them drafting him as a bad pick.

He was billed as a high IQ player. He was supposed to be the fastest guy in the draft, the kind who made every single a double because of stealing bases. He was supposed to be a GG level second baseman from the day he was drafted. It was shocking how none of that was true and evident almost immediately. He cost them games. He also wasn't durable.

dolphin is 100 percent correct on the history of Madrigal on the WSox.

But the fallacy of Hahn and the WSox was thinking he was some 10 year vet. He was still a rookie when all this happened but they didnt allow him to make rookie mistakes. They fooled themselves thinking the rest of their prospects were all going to pan our and they were back in 2020. He was seen as the weakest link when in reality, if they waited, he was the only prospect other than Robert that panned out. While the others were one hit wonders or the Sox fucked them up themselves like Crochet.
