I see problems in the same areas that were problems last year:

OL because of injury and lack of depth
DL because of lack of talent
QB needs to develop

o/u is 6.5 and it is going to be right at that number.

Next week I will be back to 17 wins

I'm willing to be patient with the defensive line for a couple of weeks. That said, for my sanity, I need Fields to be the guy MANY believe he can be from the beginning.

I think Moore makes a lot of problems not go away, but alleviates the some of the issues on the O Line. He will ultimately be better than Marshall, Robinson and Jeffery. Those have been your top receivers in the last decade or so, and that my friends is a low bar to hurdle

I'm assuming little or no improvement in Fields, a situation that yields a 4-13 record.

I could chug my kool-aid and find 5 more wins, but they're based on Fields being really good. If healthy, I don't think the defense will suck.

Two separate 4-game losing streaks? I don't think they will be playing that poorly that often.

7-8 wins still sounds about right to me. I could see 6 if they have a ton of injuries, and if they get extremely lucky maybe they can eek out 9.

Wins don't matter. Fields matters. If they average 27 points a game, maybe the wins come but they aren't necessary. Fields being good is necessary.

Two thoughts.

1. If the Bears start the season playing to their strengths with a run-centric offense and don't insist that Justin prove his worth by being a tackling dummy in the pocket, the offense might progress into something good over the course of the season.  Entertaining, at least.
2.  Since the defense doesn't have a strength, they need to be very aggressive.  Heavy blitzing, late hits, cheap shots.  Put Tyrique Stevenson to work everywhere on the field.  I have no expectations that this defense will develop into anything better than a bottom 10 defense.  But again, maybe they'll be entertaining.

Kool-aid pick: 8 - 9
But I'd be surprised with more than 5 wins.

the fact he wasnt good in preseason makes me feel , at this point,... ugh. i think hes going to be manageable and looking for a trade at the end of the season.

Predictions are starting to roll in and, not surprisingly, I see very few picking the Bears above 7 wins and higher than last place in the North. The defensive line worries me still and I think the losses are coming from shootouts.

The only team on the Bears schedule that is magnitudes better than the Bears would be the Chiefs. Everyone else is in the margin of error of how good the Bears might be in 2023.

If Fields stays healthy double digit victories isn't out of the equation.

Completely agree. I’d view it as a disappointment if they’re not at least on the ‘in the hunt’ graphic late in the season.

The schedule is trash.

I really love our secondary and the improvement on our linebackers potentially. I think a good running team will beat the interior line up but that is where winning ball possession and turnovers comes in.

I think that they will go out fairly slow(4-4) but will finish strong (6-3)

Run defense will be exponentially better than last year, which will automatically make the pass defense better as well.

With Edmunds patrolling the middle of the field, MANY of the easy, deep middle throws from last year, will be eliminated as well.

Woof! You also compared Edmunds to Urlacher too! No more football opinions for this guy!

The week 12 MNF game @Minnesota is going to be the first date flexed game. They will move that to Noon on Sunday and switch Bills Eagles or Steelers Bengals to Monday.

It's really a pretty easy case. He hasn't shown anything as a receiver, and great blocking TEs go for 2 mil a year.

On the other hand, there is no case to be made that Kmet deserves this type of contract or that he is in fact "good". It is you who still has the burden of proof if you somehow think otherwise.

Another L for FavreFan
