Yes, he has no worries right now.

Poles is on fire right now.

I thought so. And I thought it was a good move at the time, Fields seems to have a connection with him. But clearly, he's not good. This stuff proves it. Very slow, screws up routes, can't block.

I just don't get why these guys regress. Trubinsky got worse too so quickly. Its not the bears, it's like they 'make it's and then give up even if they believe they don't, they do.

It's a big reason why I appreciate LeBron so much. He was crowned in high school. Everything that happened to him, he could have easily coasted and fizzed out. He was hell bent his whole career. If you look at his whole career it's fucking amazing.

He's spent more time criticizing Kmet's route running, blocking, effort, and catching ability than anything Fields has done.

I completely forgot that Kmet was extended!

My god he has been terrible this season.

O'Sullivan absolutely despises him and Claypool.

Talking about Fields on ESPN 1000:

Says Fields trajectory is "TBD" - not a ringing endorsement.

Says he's athletic and has a good arm, but doesn't throw quickly and holds the ball too long. Says he has to adjust to what the league is doing to him. Says only a handful of teams wouldn't start Caleb Williams this weekend when asked if bears should draft QB next year. Says Stroud has the best start out of the rookie QBs and plays with anticipation.

Didn't bash Fields but didn't worship him like ESPN National. But that middle road he took says a lot.

In fairness, you can easily spend hours criticizing Kmet's all around play for the bulk of his career.

Wasn't he supposed to "take the next step" like Fields, looks like a very pedestrian guy that is a backup TE on most teams.

You likely will get a shot at Bowers next year in the draft, highly unlikely given the other glaring needs, but Kmet will be bad paper if they bring in a real TE.

Kmet is a guy you look to upgrade from every chance you get. IMO he would be almost universally panned if he didn't go to Notre Dame. Giving him $50mil was a complete waste.

It was a terrible signing, even if you had to spend money to get to the salary cap floor.

I haven't looked at Caleb Williams much, but one thing that immediately stands out about him is his throwing motion--it is so much more compact and fluid compared to Fields' mechanics.

Don't remember his name but Texas has a terrific tight end. Big, fast, and has great hands.

Guy is a stud. They may be a national game against Colorado in a couple weeks. He’ll definitely be primetime in late Oct at ND.

Went on PFF to split difference again between fields and coaching. Equally critical of both. Says he's not sure if Fields isn't seeing stuff or if he's been coached that way (to be conservative and risk averse). Bottom line, this guy is way more excited about Stroud and to some extent young than he is about Fields.

did. The guy entertains me, and helps me understand the Bears so I took the plunge.

TLDR; he's going to kill himself if he keeps doing it. I'm sure a ton of Bears fans signed up for the Patreon just to get the Fields analysis but the video is a solid hour and a half whereas most of his analysis videos are a half hour. Not likely he does this Sunday's game but will do Thursday. Hilariously had to leave mid-video to get his kids from school. Came back and finished it off like a gamer. Hightlights:

On the OC: High school level playcalling. No designed runs. Putting Claypool in a position to be a speed guy instead of Moore. Using Kmet at all (although we saw a lot of Tonyan and another TE) No hitches this time (although Sullivan hates hitches, they seem to be one of the few things working for Fields). Really put a ton of the game on the coaches.

On the OL: Nearly every starting OL got a ding at some point. Nobody is open in the amount of time Fields has. See WR and playcalling.

RB: 23 can't block and neither can 24. It's bad.

QB: Fields had the best game he's had so far. Which isn't saying much. Still not reading the field, a damning indictment. Also routinely throwing the ball out of bounds for TD tries and off target. Sullivan was waiting much of the 2nd half for Fields to come out.

WR: Hates Claypool. Really doesn't like Moore. No separation from either. Better spacing but Claypool is clearly forgetting his proper routes still.

Moore looks to be getting plenty of separation from what I have seen

Does anyone else think that may be the unimaginative / simplified playcalling last week might be a function of them taking out half the playbook out so Justin can be Justin and not have to deal with such pesky quarterbacking things like reads , multiple options , throwing the football ?

Not on the all-22. It's pretty clear he's a number two. He can go up and get it but in terms of actual separation, nope. Now, maybe he's not going 100 percent every play but that's a whole different thing.

They're not though. There are things Justin can do. Multiple sets he looks decent in every week. But they're still running everything they were running week one. It's almost like they're setting him up to fail.

I think when they design calls that get receivers wide open to the point where one is demonstrably clapping for the ball it actually seems like they're not setting him up to fail. Do you think wide open receivers hinder Fields' growth?
