i remember people having a real issue with dickerson more than with payton. dickerson, as great as he was, im not sure he has been the credit he was due, not that he has been slighted or anything. i think sometimes he is a bit overlooked. in his prime, he was AWESOME.

and since we are talking RB now, you may call me crazy if you want, but if i had to pick one guy in his prime, at his best, for one game: Earl Campbell. the combo of power and speed in that guy was freakish, he was the WHOLE package. he could run inside, outside, jump over, break tackles, break away, everything.

I won't call you crazy. He was awesome. As were overlooked Billy Sims and Bo Jackson was awesome for a time.

We had a thread like this once.

I don't put the record holder for all time rushing yards - Emitt Smith- in my top 5 RBs of all time.

Payton
Brown
LT
Sanders
Dorsett
Cambell
Dickerson

Maybe Smith is 8th. That's my list. That's how I roll.

Greatest white RB of all time.: John Riggens. Funny, cuz that cracker wouldn't start in today's NFL. Nobody would give him a shot.

dorsett is another guy who may be a tad under-appreciated by some. sanders was the best runner ever i think, but he didnt have versatility that some of the others had perhaps. he wasnt a tough-yard on 3rd and 1 kind of guy, because he took some many negative-yardage runs, but im not knocking him. he was fabulous.

If Bo played in the NFL full time and had a 10-12 year career, without a serious injury, he would have been the greatest RB ever. No doubt in my mind.

Yeah, I liked Bo but I have some suspicions as to why he only lasted a few years if you know what I'm saying.

If you're thinking steroids, fine. But the NFL tested for that. Do you remember how he got hurt? It was against the Bengals. He had his hip ripped from his bone. I remember the play to this day. Had nothing to do with just breaking down. He had to get an artificial hip. Played for the Sox right after he got that fake hip. It wasn't steroids that knocked him out. He literally lost his hip.

Thanks Beardown. I forgot about the nature of the injury.

I lost my hip in the early 90s.
