I noticed MANY (e.g,, Rich Eisen, Greenberg) calling Fields a “kid.” He’ll be 25 in March and it’s his 3rd year in the league—hardly a “kid” in NFL years.

It’s just another way to shift blame off Fields and onto the coaches.

Good point dude. How often does a 3rd year guy suck and it suddenly clicks?

Steve Young seems to be the only good example but he had to switch teams and the 49ers were a pretty good organization.

Right man. One guy over a thousand quarterbacks in the SB era? I mean... I think I'm willing to call this what it is and say Fields looks like a bust. So I ask yall, is he a bust?

Fields would probably be good on the niners.

I think so, and it pains me to say it. He doesn’t seem to be able to handle the mental aspects of the position. Isn’t a prolific passer. Running QBs end up on IR.

Generally speaking, the process should start before week 1 of the regular season.

If they worked 9-5 jobs Eberflus and Getsy would say they didn't get anything done between 9-1 because they were settling in for work. Then they got lunch at 2.

And then by the time you’re done with lunch, you don’t really have time to do anything anyway.

Better to just pick it up the next morning.

I’ve been neutral on Getsy, but saying they’re “building something special” is so absurd it’s a fireable offense.

Said it in the game thread, but Eberflus should for sure be fired, but the short week will give ownership a perfect excuse to keep him on and save coin.

Gonna be fun watching the pansie Chicago sports media types take it easy on this dumbass because they want to keep their pass to Halas Hall.

Best thing he could do is tell the team he was full of shit with the HITS principle bullshit and burn the defensive playbook. Tell the guys, we are going to run balls out hybrid coverage, blitz crazy, rushing the passer like L.Briggs running away from his lambo. Embrace Bears tradition and get a W!

If you flip the coaching staffs, the Bears win 38-17.

I want somebody to ask Eberflus why Sean Payton made better halftime adjustments than he did on both sides of the ball.

I'm not sure if he ever started. Chicago is indeed where receivers go to die (except for ironically the Trestman era).

Looks that way.

It will be absolutely fascinating to see how he fares on his next team.

better half time adjustments? the bears were up 28-7 with 5 minutes in the 3rd. no adjustments were needed, just had to keep trying and let the bears implode

Definitely looks that way. But does Flus know what he is talking about today? He did not seem to know what the reality was yesterday.

even if the Bears are dysfunctional, teams see how HE treated the situation (after some questionable public actions as a Steeler).

There is no way he is getting anything but a 1 year deal. I don't know if that bothers him. I cannot figure out what motivates him.

It is mind blowing that the guy has not went all out to get a contract.

To be fair up until yesterday not sure what any of these receivers could do to stand out except block and run routes. They certainly weren't catching anything because fields never threw anything.

How did Poles not know that Claypool is a major douche before acquiring him?

There were plenty of signs in Pittsburgh.

The Claypool trade is a damning indictment of Ryan Poles, he obviously did not do his due diligence on the player, and was laughed at around the league for giving up a second-round pick on a dude that the Steelers had identified as an underachiever.

It was an early indication that Poles and his staff were not real good at pro personnel scouting, and were looking for guys with physical traits rather than productive football players, this also impacts college level scouting as they keep drafting DBs because he wants to wait around to draft lineman that fit his desired lengthy/athleticism traits. He is somehow able to reconcile filling some key offensive and defensive line spots with third tier FA's for several years as he waits for his ideal draft pick to materialize, sitting on tons of cap room while his QB is getting killed and his defense gets destroyed at the line of scrimmage every Sunday.

The theory is Green Bay wanted him and had an offer in. Therefore, Poles wanted him.

He has handled it poorly. I'm not sure if anyone except bottom of the roster players would have handled it better.
