While Derrick Rose put on a solid opening night performance for the Bulls last night vs. the Bucks, Greg Oden made his long-awaited debut for the Portland Trailblazers vs. the L.A. Lakers at STAPLES Center. Unfortunately for #52 in black, white & red, the "rookie" from Ohio State hurt his foot just a couple minutes into Portland's game, which they lost 96-76 to the defending Western Conference Champs. Oden didn't score, but his foot injury could keep the big man sidelined for quite sometime. I realize that Oden was the #1 overall pick last season and didn't play at all due to microfracture surgery, but I'm not so sure he's a true "rookie". Then again, if Oden's foot injury is very serious, I wonder if we might be seeing the second coming of Sam Bowie in regards to not being able to stay healthy for an entire career. If I remember correctly, Sam was the #2 overall pick in the 1984 NBA Draft from Kentucky, and while his career was marred by knee trouble, I wonder if the Blazers are a snakebitten organization.
