Bagent was far more productive in his first start and win than Fields. The Chargers give up 400 yards a game and have Thieving Mack. Expect more.

Wanny says that if the Bears win against the Chargers, Bagent will be named the permanent starting QB.

It certainly sounds like Eberflus prefers Bagent over Fields.

I think he proved he can play in the NFL. I don't think he proved he could be a starter. I'm not drawing any other conclusions because it was his first game.

I think we are seeing more and more evidence that neither Flus nor Poles is really in on Fields.

Wanny is pretty connected to people in the league. I would think he is right.

They clearly want an extended look at Bagent to know what they need to do in the draft next spring.

I tend to agree. Wanny seems to know what Eberflus is thinking.

It shouldn't have worked on Sunday.

But when they start jumping the short routes, the intermediate and deep routes will be open.

If you can run first in the NFL, all other roads will open from there.

I agree as well.

But just from a practical standpoint, if Bagent plays well again and Fields is anything less than 100%, then Bagent has earned another start IMO.

Small sample size I know, but the Bears have two games on the road in buildings that can be tough to win in. The teams they are playing are decent, better than the Bears for sure, but not so much better that they are unwinnable games for the Beloved.

If the Bears go 1-1 and Bagent plays well over the next 2 weeks, then maybe we have something here.

I wonder if the coaching staff hates Fields because he accumulates too many negative plays, doesn't get rid of the ball in a timely matter(making the oline look worse), doesn't extend drives which tires out your defense and doesn't tire out the apposing defense and is like 5-20 as a starting quarterback?

He fumbles, gets sacked, throws interceptions and can't drive the offense at the end of games when it counts.

He loses. Like, all the time.

Bagent's 2.1 yds in the air is better than 0.0 and a loss of 8yds.

The Chargers, despite some decent sack numbers, are the worst passing defense in the NFL. Hopefully Bagent is given more (some) downfield shots.

It’s funny…a caller was challenging Parkins yesterday on his support for the higher ceiling of Fields, but conceded Fields had two wins against bum teams. It took Shane/Tanny to remind the brainwashed that only one of those “breakout” games was actually a win, and that Fields was the primary reason they lost to Denver due to his disastrous 4th quarter.

People are making a big deal about the 2.1 yd deal. I think they kept things pretty simple due to it being his first start and because of the matchup with the Raiders D. They did not want him getting killed by Crosby.

He may not be a gun slinger, but he can handle more than just dinks and dunks for 2.1 yds.

Now if after 2-3 weeks the number is still that low then there is a problem.

What flew totally under the radar in this game was that Crosby was essentially a non-factor. Darnell Wright absolutely held his own against a premier pass rusher. That was very good to see.

Also, PFF gave their second worst grade on the Bears to Seacrest's guy Tyrique Stevenson

people dismissed their ability to run last year because it was aided by qb scrables. The last four weeks have not had that boost but it is still producing.

They ran the ball well before Fields morphed into Forrest Gump last year.

I think he is a gunslinger if left to his own style of play. I don't think he's like sexy rexy throwing it deep all the time, but I think he throws into tight coverages.

They consistently ran on obvious passing downs and late in games when they were down.

Getsy did some good things with run-game design, but teams were also content to let them run, especially given the putrid state of the Bears defense.

We have a one armed RT. There's video of Wright solely using his right arm to block for MANY plays. He couldn't lift his left arm.

Wright is going to be a very good player. That's a solid pick for Poles.
