I think Eberflus believes he needs to win several more games to save his job.

He may not be a gun slinger, but he can handle more than just dinks and dunks for 2.1 yds.

Now if after 2-3 weeks the number is still that low then there is a problem.

The Cult is alao mocking the 161 passing yards . “ Try winning against good teams with that !! “

Fields for his career averages 167 per game .

Interesting thoughts from Chase Daniels on Bagent's 1st game...

In that video of Chase Daniels he shows on one of the first plays he looks at a situation where Bagent goes to his 3rd progression and throws a strike over the middle for like a 15 yd gain. Again just shows that he is capable of way more than we have seen and that 2.1 stat is meaningless.

Exactly.

He's a QB first, not an athlete.

I was impressed with the quick out to Mooney where he looked off a vet like Marcus Peters, and then threw the out route.

I somehow think this would be a much different discussion from Lil Danny if Bagent were the hotshot prospect out of a major university under-performing for three years and Fields were the scrappy kid from the no-name university starting his first game

Bagents biggest weakness is his arm -it’s not the strongest. But he has years worth of starting experience at the college level which helps his comfort level. I think after some film of him is out there we’ll see why he’s not much more than a backup tho.

Nice guy to have coming off the bench, but far from an answer to the QB problem

Isn't there a shitload of film of him? I don't think film will change anything. I think it’s more about his ability to adjust to the NFL speed.

The absence of bad is better than what we have had for the past 2-1/2 years. I don’t understand why anyone would opt for bad instead. We did last year to get a better pick and then traded it away. Since I am not sure this franchise is capable of much more I will root for the absence of bad for now.

one thing all teams to do justin is blitz him. constantly.

cant do that to bagent. he will dump it over your head.

huge fucking difference, and if they do want to 'figure' out bagent it will have to be physical limitations like what side he likes to throw on, what side he likes to run to, etc.

with fields, all you have to do is rush him and then treat the play like a run. youll beat him 90% of the time.

Fields has steadfastly refused to work on his mechanics.

Bagent's footwork was one of the big knocks on him coming out of college. He spent his entire summer correcting these issues.

Fields still has a slow release, and has done precious little to change that.

The footwork issue is absolutely bafflling. Why does he drop back so casually? It creates all kinds of timing problems in the offense.

Baffling is a good word for it.

The comments that Kmet and Lewis made were an indictment of Fields work ethic.

I think what we saw on draft day explains everything. Fields completely fucking despises Chicago.

Once he is in a more hipster market, his mechanics and attitude will suddenly be great.

That was my impression as well.

I think part of the problem is also--as Nas has said for a while--that Fields really isn't a leader.

From my perspective, this means that when Fields meets with his receivers for offseason workouts, they're not practicing in as organized and focused of a manner as they should be. That may be one reason why so many of the Bears' passing plays involve routes that are run either partially or entirely wrong. Part of the blame for this obviously belongs to Getsy, who doesn't seem very detail-oriented. But part of the blame also lies with Fields, who needs to coach his teammates in the offseason and hold them accountable when they fail to execute. Part of the way great quarterbacks like Brees and Brady separated themselves from their peers was through running challenging offseason workout sessions in which they insisted that routes be run absolutely correctly within the context of their offense. I don't think Fields has the drive or level of organization to credibly demand this kind of discipline and precision from his teammates.
