good series so far with a proper poe american gothic feel. The parts of the story that are the conversation between the matriarch and us attorney definitely channel poe.

I always enjoy a good sibling rivalry story. I think the acting is fantastic on all fronts. The guy playing Roderick should be up for an award for his work. I thought that guy was in the big house in real life for underage porn or something. Mark Hammill is also great in a role that is outside his normal range. Carla Gugino can still play the role of a hot woman, even as she is getting a little long in the tooth.

heavy handed on the gender fluid stuff to the point it is not organic in the story

I'm in the middle of episode 4 of 8 and have really enjoyed the ride. Definitely bingeable.

Excellent series and highly recommended.

Some who watch will take Madeline's last soliloquy as a statement of female empowerment, not realizing it is a philosophy being espoused by a terrible person who is a destroyer of worlds.

I didn't find a single episode to be weak. I don't pay attention to particular productions staff very often but I have noticed Mike Flanagan's work in this and Midnight Mass.

the wife has been watching it. she just pointed out mark hamill to me. my one good friend watched it and thought it was shit, but he's the only one i know that didn't like it. now that the halloween season is in the long past, i don't know that i have much interest in it. maybe sometime after the holiday buzz. got a lot of christmas shit to get to.
