Not at all. But it's a low risk move. That's what I'm trying to say. Our #1 draft pick from Georgia will get a chance to win the job. Christ. I think Nix makes 400k.

It's not like being wrong on a guy like Fukudome where you pay him 10 million a year and are now stuck with him for 3 or 4 more years knowing he can't play Major League Baseball.

Maybe KW will still get a vet 2nd baseman on the last year of his contract and Nix is in the minors or is a bench guy.

I know some people want to get Kenny with the "Ah Ha!!! What a lousy move!!!"

Please. Not for this guy. It's a low risk move. I don't know anything about Nix except he was a fairly high draft pick. Let's see what we have in Spring Training. Jesus Christ!!!

I thought it was going to be Orlando Hudson or they might bring back Iguchi. This does remind me of when they signed Ramirez. Nobody thought he would be competing for the Rookie of the Year back then. Heck, many did not think he would make the team out of spring training. Around the end of April, he looked like maybe he shouldn't have. So until I see the guy go through spring training, I am going to reserve judgement. It isn't a crowd pleaser as deals go-right now. But who knows....

OK Kenny is a genius, he found a hitch in Jayson Nix's swing and he is ready to turn him into an ALL STAR

Now, reality.

Jayson Nix is a shot in the dark, if takes his "Vitamins" maybe he does become the next great wonder out of nowhere, but did he need to be signed NOW? Is there a line for Jayson Nix's services?

Maybe Getz is a player? but I would assume the Sox are going free agent at the position anyways, maybe Hawk can give me 10 minutes of what a gutsy player he is.

I would also think they need to save some money to make the Pat Burrel deal for him to play 3rd.

Who is saying that Nix is anything but a shot in the dark?

But how many times do his "shots in the dark" have to succeed until you will change your opinion that it is pure dumb luck?

The guy has a track record of getting not just good but star performances from "shot in the dark" players going all the way back to Esteban Loiza.

It may not seem like much right now, but Jayson Nix & Chris Getz will have competition for the second base job in Spring Training next March in my opinion. The buzz continues to surround Orlando Hudson, who I read today in Chris DeLuca's Sun-Times column is lukewarm about going back to the Diamondbacks next season. Also, Joe Crede & Juan Uribe were among some 60 ballplayers around MLB that filed for free agency yesterday. I think both will be gone.
