So in hindsight, jay Cutler was more consistent that Justin Fields? The guy who routinely missed targets so bad the other team caught it? You think the broncos didn't try to fix that? And when they did try to coach him, they knew he didn't give a shit. If you were in Denver at the time, you would have laughed at the offer the bears gave him. He's still a joke to this day.

Put down the pipe Ike.

Fields is going to smoke the Lions and then dance on their grave.

In year 3 Cutler threw for 4500 yards and 25 TDs

Fields has barely done more than that in 2.5 years.

In year three, jay Cutler was a b list celebrity. He needed Taylor Swift to elevate his status. In year three, Justin Fields hasn't really done shit in comparison, yet the entire league is talking about him, wondering what he might end up being.

BIG FUCKING DIFFERENCE

They both threw the same amount of INT and both suck

Drafting a QB makes too much sense, it gives Poles another few years, it buys the new HC a few years, gets your into the rookie QB contract salary cap window, everything points toward that being the best decision for the franchise.

You bring your new HC and new OC in with a rookie QB, he can learn the new system and grow with everyone, continue to upgrade your lines and you are ready to win in two years.

It’s all so simple. I’m not sure how that plan could go awry.

Fields will definitely be tested playing a good team in a raucous road game. 9 of his 24 sacks this year are on 1st down. Healthy O-line will make it difficult for apologists.

Yep. He will be tested. You have to wonder if the Lions will overlook the Bears who should be as healthy as they have been the entire season. But then we still have a putz for an offensive coordinator and no defensive coordinator.

I hope he's learned something. He says he has. It's going to be fun seeing if he has.

No, only thing I know about Twitter is what you guys post so.. thanks for the heads up. Sounds like last years quote going into the draft

That said, I can see them saying something like that if asked right now -and I wouldn’t worry too much about it if they did

I don’t cuz it’s not?

Here’s Rapoport saying the fake quote if that’s preferable:

My bad. I couldn't find it on Greenberg's feed at first.

If that's an accurate quote from Poles, he's embarrassing himself given that he said the same thing before passing on Stroud. We don't need to hear from him on the qb situation right now.

This season, Justin Fields is now...

Fourth Quarter: 27/50, 329 yards, 3 TD, 4 INT and 3 sacks
Fourth Quarter, +/- 7 Points: 5/10, 50 yards, 0 TD, 1 INT, 1 sack
Last Two Minutes of a Half: 13/27, 93 yards, 1 TD, 4 INT, 2 sacks

Career...

Fourth Quarter: 128/223, 1,382 yards, 10 TD, 14 INT, 27 sacks
Fourth Quarter, +/- 7 Points: 41/70, 488 yards, 2 TD, 5 INT, 11 sacks
Last Two Minutes of a Half: 70/125, 699 yards, 6 TD, 10 INT, 22 sacks

In case you are wondering why the coaches didn't want to "let Justin loose" in the fourth quarter when trying to win the game.

This is the same group that was blown away by Claypool, it doesn't take a whole lot to impress them.

Why would any organization say anything but that? He expects to be blown away by Maye or Williams and then he'll trade Fields. He's playing his cards right, but everyone already knows his hand.

They may not even pick 1 or 2, so fields may be the default option. Why nuke the guy 7 weeks before you know where you stand?

You're correct. That said, today did increase the odds that they will. Arizona is the only clear threat to the #1 pick, and I expect Murray to play well enough to get the Cardinals a couple more wins. Also, division record is the tiebreaker for the worse record. That gives the Bears and Panthers an edge right now.

He certainly shouldn't use the exact same phrasing to describe the 2024 draft scenario as he did in 2023 when he failed to recognize that Stroud is a franchise-changing QB.

It'd be best if he just kept his mouth shut at this point.

I don't know if Stroud is a franchise changing QB. No one thought he was before the draft. Besides, the haul for Stroud exceeds his value.

OK.

The trade value Poles got for the #1 pick exceeds Stroud's value only if Poles makes a bunch of really good picks. There's very little reason to think that he will.

And are you suggesting that Houston didn't have Stroud ranked ahead of Young? Because I don't think that's correct.

He has played far better than I thought he would, but he hasn't seen the league's adjustment to him. I want to see that before I crown him.

I know you aren't a fan of Poles, but he's done well with the assets he's received from Carolina. Moore, Wright, and Stevenson look like keepers. You don't have the be the smartest guy in the world to draft Maye/Williams and Harrison Jr #1 and #2.

I don't know for sure, but it appeared everyone was in love with Young.
