According to MLBtraderumors, the CBA states that there's no limit on deferred compensation:

So essentially it’s $46m per year, if you discount using currently interest rates. Still the highest AAV ever, but not $70m.

There was no way in hell the Rays were going to pay Glasnow $25 million, even if it was just for one season. That team really needs to move.

There's only maybe 6 good ones in the entire league.

thats weird to me. i think about this alot now that im fully grown up. im watching pro sports coaches younger than me and wonder if i could do their job. most coaches seem to have the job because they learned corporate language and basically good salesmen.

if you really need to know the game, wouldn't more players end up as coaches? they wouldnt have to be good players that made money in the league. out of thousands of candidates you still hire from outside? its weird.

The Braves are spending December doing NHL style trades. They keep on buying overpriced bench players from teams with iffy TV deals to get a prospect, retain a bunching of the remaining salary, then flipping them to bad teams.

The latest one is Matt Carpenter - got him, $1.5M, and a solid relief prospect who pitched between AAA/SD last year, and threw back a AA corner OF bum. Carpenter is making $5.5M, so the Braves paid $4M for the prospect. If they can flip Carpenter at minimum salary to someone like Colorado or Washington, the cost to the Braves will be $3.3M.

brewers front office content to look like fools, due to not wanting to publicly state they want to dump salary. 2 decent players ($7.5 million) for a ripped lottery ticket. mets have purged their system of anyone named crow.

Actually not true, Hauser was maybe a 4 or 5 starter and with all of the youth in the outfield and having Yelich, Taylor had no where to play.

i think it's true.

hauser a decent starter and taylor, decent 4th outfielder/platoon type. could have gotten more than a ripped lottery ticket - umm, i think this guy was rated #29 out of top 30 mets prospects. obvious, that they're looking at numbers like a family run donut shop.

That said, they got a good prospect who is going to miss the entire year due to surgery.

I realize the White Sox don't really have any prospects, but couldn't they have enticed Milwaukee with Bryan Ramos and some international pool money? Hauser would have been a flippable 3/4 for them, and Taylor is considered to be a starting OF for a bad team or a solid #4 OF for a good team.

well, not sure if mlb has contemplated changing some rules. ohtani is considered $46 million per year. the dodgers now appear to be getting yamamoto. richest pitcher guaranteed money deal in history? never thrown a mlb pitch.

what is the point? no wonder the brewers are giving players (salary) away. there's no point in adding a staggering $200 million to your payroll going for the NL pennant, when the dodgers will easily add over a $1.1 billion to their payroll. 10 out of 10 neutrals will likely root for these fuckers to choke.

ohtani/glasnow/yamamoto.

Giolito to the Red Sox on a pillow contract:

I don't think the pressure in Boston is going to be a good environment for him.
