I think $71M is reasonable based on the contracts that have been signed recently.

If Justin is 43M or whatever does that mean Minshew would get 50-60M on the open market? Minshew is the more productive QB between the two so just making an educated guess.

Wouldn't you just put the franchise tag on him? I can't see them throwing that much money just yet.

yeah, Bears have til the week after the draft (May 2024) to either exercise the 5th yr option (around $20 mil, like the Ravens did with Lamar), decline it (like the Giants did with Daniel Jones) or negotiate an extension that covers that 5th year at least (Packers/ Jordan Love).

If Fields is traded this off-season assume it would be before the first of week of May, so whatever team trades for Fields would make the decision on the option.

Those are pretty rough numbers for both guys. Neither are a QB you should want to move forward with. My hope is that the Bears just keep spinning this in a positive way and tell everyone that Fields is the QB they want for their future just to pump up his trade value. Hopefully Poles is much smarter than we are giving him credit for.

2022 and 2023 numbers do not count for either qb in that both qbs played for the worst teams in the nfl. Put Peyton Manning in front of the Jets or Bears last season and he wouldn't win 5 games for cripes sake.

Consensus is taking Williams is a no brainer.

Here are the no brainers....Peyton Manning, Andrew Luck, and Joe Burrow.
Williams is NOT a no brainer.

The Bears fans base is so fucking retarded. They think they can call Fields a franchise QB but pay him like a average guy. It's no wonder we've never had a superstar QB. They defense mediocrity.

that's why the Bears need to trade the 5th overall (or wherever that pick ends up) + a 3rd rounder + 4th rounder + a 2025 3rd round pick to NE with Justin Fields to get the #2 overall as well.

Then you draft both Williams and Maye 1 and 2 and you move the odds of landing a franchise QB from fitty-fitty to 75%

it would make sense to tank every year and select a qb with the #1 pick every year until we find a generational talent.

You think the Jets were one of the worst teams the past two seasons?

Actually games from 2023 don't count either, specifically every game except the Denver and Washington games. All other games would be unfair to count since Getsy confused Fields by scheming open too many receivers.
