AI to the Pistons for Billups and McDyess.

Anybody think this is really going to happen?

I could see Michael Curry thinking he could have a good impact on him...Billups is said to be unhappy in Detroit...

I would love to see Billups out of our division

If Hoopshype salary list is correct (I've found it to be wrong before), I'm not sure why in the world Denver would do this...Iverson's contract expires this year and would be a tidy $20mil coming off the books whereas Billups is locked up for another 2 years (after this year; team option for 3rd year). Denver clearly isn't going anywhere in the next couple years regardless. It also wouldn't make sense for them to take on that long term contract when they essentially gave away Marcus Camby just to avoid paying the luxury tax. I'd presume that before making a trade like that they'd just gut the whole thing and try and get younger talent and/or draft picks.

Sounds like Detroit is getting the better of the deal here. If it happens the way I'm hearing...

Kid Cairo, ESPN.com's Stephen A. Smith is reporting the Allen Iverson trade to Detroit is a done deal. Here's another Denver Nugget name to watch, fans. There's talk Carmelo Anthony is next to go, and I read he could be on the Bulls' radar.

Wow. I don't get that at all....I can actually understand trying to move Anthony now...might as well blow the whole thing up and start over. That team and that style of ball their playing wasn't getting them anywhere

I'm not 100% sure, but it might have been Sam Smith before he joined Bulls.com, or possibly John Jackson in the Sun-Times... :?

I think that trade for the short term makes Detroit worse...my opinion...

I agree.

I think the team is going to have some major chemistry issues with Sheed and AI and RIP is not going to be happy with his best friend leaving the team. And I think they are going to miss McDyess more than some realize.

But they just locked up Jason Maxiell for awhile, they have to be counting on him to be their man frontcourt guy off the bench

McDyess was having something of a minor rebirth in Detroit, but I doubt he's got much left in the tank

Why would anyone want Iverson now? He's a statistically good player but the days in which he can be a player that helps you win a title are gone.

Trade confuses me. I don't see the benefit for either team.

The Cliff Claven-looking Mike D'Antoni doesn't appear prepared to play Stephon Marbury, despite fans clamoring for #3 in New York blue & orange to play him at Madison Square Garden. Despite his high salary, I heard ESPN Radio's Jon Stashower mention in a national "SportsCenter" update this afternoon that the Miami Heat might be interested in Stephon...

Billups has about 2 more years on his contract, and Denver is looking for help at PG long-term. Iverson is gone after this year.

Allen Iverson never seemed to be that good of a fit out there in Denver, and I'm not sure he, Carmelo Anthony & the John Lithgow-looking George Karl got along...

This opens up minutes for Amir Johnson who the Pistons think is ready to be a double double guy in the post.

Apparently, McDyess doesn't want to go to Denver and might retire. So if the trade is to go through, the Nuggets have to waive the physicals. The Nuggets are willing to talk buyout with McDyess as well.

The Heat are only interested if he is waived and clears waivers.
