Do Sox fans defend the Sod father as much as they defend "Jayson Nix"?

Seems some people have some issues with the Roger Bossard job of turf install at Soldier Field.

Just wondering?

He did Soldier field?

That field has been shitty for years. The Park District seems to not know what they hell they are doing with that playing surface.

Why is there no talk about Chicago selling Soldier Field? They sold (or leased?) the Skyway and there is talk about selling the lotto, Midway, etc. Wouldn't selling Soldier Field be a more logical alternative? How many cities own sports arenas?

I've posted this before...when it comes to chicago sporting venue's...The only thing Chicago got right was the United Center. Thanks to MJ for that. Wrigley is Wrigley (old - small - dumpy) and the Cell was F'd from day one (much better now though after spending milions & milions more of tax payer dollars). The Soldier Field debacle? it is already the 2nd smallest stadium in the NFL. Chicago had to keep the freakin columns, natural grass, and open air (i.e. - no retractable dome (i.e. stupid)) for the "Bear weather".

Year after year...that playing surface sucks.

Right, and I suppose US Celluar paying for naming rights had nothing to do with the money spent on renovations

The sponsorship money from US Cellular is almost exclusively used to fund renovations at the ballpark.

Bigfan,
I don't hear you complaining about how he finally fixed up Wrigley's field.

No - contrary to popular belief, M Jeff did NOT design, build, or fund the United Center. He is a couple credits short of his degree in archtecture from UNC.

I don't think he was referring to Jordan, but to United Center architect, Moren Jurgesson.

Was that a SHARK impersonation? If so, that was good.

you didnt hear my complaining about him at Soldier Field either, I was asking if Sox nation was upset he was getting some bashing.

Maybe if the Sox didnt need to take the extra $42 Million out of the Soldier Field renovation we would have a well drained field

The playing surface is just another item on the long list of reasons why all of the money should not have been spent to "redo" Soldier Field at it's current location. The playing surface is literally a couple hundred yards away from Lake Michigan, and it is below the surface level of the lake. It doesn't take a scientist to figure out the potetntial problems there (it takes a hockey playing baby maker, evidently).

I just wonder how long the NFL continues to let this happen before they step in and say enough - it's time for an artificial surface again.

The Sodfather sucks anyway, but I would so like to meet his daughters, if he has any. They probably want to meet me too. Who doesn't? Less than 48 hours until my plan is officialy put in motion.....
Hey, Levi, don't bash the "Sodfather"! :x Truth be told, the NFL did intervene after the New York Jets & New England Patriots played in a quagmire at Gillette Stadium a year or two ago. Players, coaches & media were so disgusted with the condition of that field that officials tore up the grass and replaced it with FieldTurf during the season. I think the last time the Bears played in New England, they played one of the first games since they installed the harder surface there...
