He's improved a lot, but he's still a below average QB.

Zaidman asking Mully for an example of someone who became a franchise QB after starting with an 8-27 record. Mully couldn’t think of anyone but recalled Brett Favre as someone who a team (Atlanta) regretted trading— because Favre drunkenly tried to pick up one of the team’s secretaries at a Christmas party.

On offense, the Bears could also run a variation of the wishbone or T formation with Williams at QB and Fields as a running back who also throws 3 or 4 times per game.

Double QB. Both in the shotgun. You never know who gets the snap.

Brad Biggs brought this up this morning. Bears played a lot of those teams.

I may be misremembering, but didn’t Alex Smith suck initially? He wasn’t an upper tier QB, but he was a solid starter for a long time. That may be Fields’ ceiling if everything breaks the right way after he leaves Chicago.

I don't know if he is a future HOFer, but if you're paying even a little bit of attention to the NFL this year you should view him as a franchise QB. Yes, we are going to pay him like one, no you will not enjoy it as much as you think.

I believe Love's passes often shake erratically as they veer off to the side of Doubs and Watson.

That would mean Watson was on the field and we know that isn’t the case.

Troy Aikman was awful the first couple years of his career

Archie Manning (you didn't say a good franchise QB, but he was the Saints starter for more than a decade )

Looks like Arch's grandpa started 7-21-3

Manning started his career 16-51-3 before starting all 16 games for the Saints the next 4 seasons and 12 games the next season, before injury sidelined him. Saints traded him to Houston the next year, where Arch would go 0-for before finishing his career 0-for the Vikings.

Manning almost matched his record the 2nd half of his career, going 19-50 to finish his career 35-101-3

Beating the team that just had the worst record in the league the year before is certainly impressive.

If the Bears continue to be terrible then Jordan Love will be a problem.

Are you saying Love cant beat good teams? The Lions and Chiefs may disagree.

The Bears continuing to be terrible is one of the safest bets in sports though.

I'm saying I don't care that Love beat a terrible Bears team.

So now we are talking about QB Winz?

You keep bringing up the topic, I just wanted to show that your "Love is only a problem if the Bears are terrible" point was wrong.

We can talk stats. I don't think you will fare much better there.

This is why QB Winz is a dumb concept. Jimmy G is 43-20 lifetime. Love played great against TB, not his fault Green Bay has the worst DC in the NFL. He played bad against the Giants though.

There is not much worse way to build a franchise than to have a highly paid average quarterback. It almost always locks you into complete mediocrity. Compare that to the last 30 years of HOF QB play coming from the Packers and I think it's acceptable to think that the Bears can handle Jordan Love.

This is true, but Jordan Love isn't average. He's already playing like a top 10 QB in his first year as a starter with the youngest offense in NFL history around him.
