that was my thought as well; this coming from a fan of the team that is known as the most fucked recently in a huge game by the refs (no call), you still play to win. once plan a failed regardless of who failed it, plan b is to tie the game and get into OT. you still give yourself a chance to win--unless you believe your team wasn't good enough in the end.

mccarthy should've been absolutely punished by the 2nd down playcall that ended up as an incomplete pass when you're basically just trying to bleed the clock to end the game.
