Isn't it asinine that the NFL plays games in January, let alone in February?

Playing in the cold in the north is miserable for the players and coaches. Watching these games is just as miserable for the fans in the stadiums.

When the stadiums are half to three-quarters full during these games, the owners are just short-changing themselves and foregoing revenue they would realize if the games were played earlier in the year. There's nothing that says the NFL regular season games have to start in September. They could start them in August and have the pre-season games start in July and go into August.

The present scheme of things is the result of the NFL expanding the season to seventeen games (taking up 18 weeks with the bye week), which is too long. Does anyone need a 17 game season except the gamblers?

It makes no sense whatsoever. Plus, the players have a greater chance of getting hurt because of the icy and snowy conditions in January.

I don’t think players want games in the July/August heat. I do agree 17 games is too much though, and the odd number just feels wrong.

I'd prefer the season started on labor day, the season were 16 games and there was one week between conf champs and sb. I 'd prefer the season to end the last weekend of jan or first of feb.

The league thinks otherwise

Every Midwest team should have a dome. It just doesn't make sense to play these games outside any more.

The league thinks otherwise

They did try starting the season on Labor Day at one point—the ratings were terrible as most people have plans of some sort for the long weekend.

I never minded going to January playoff games, even when my beer would freeze—it’s a fun atmosphere. When the a Bears beat the Saints in The NFC Championship, the snow was falling and it was awesome.

I do think MLK Day should be the Monday after the Super Bowl. They could have a special halftime salute to honor him every year, and people would be more excited to have that day off than a Monday in January.

Wild card weekend, 6 playoff games in 2 days is the best weekend in pro sports. Rube should kill himself, today.

Don’t get pissy with me because you aren’t up to date with factual information.

It's basically an entire weekend in football. Go play in traffic with Rube.

To defend Caller Bob for a second, he's normally way off on the things he said so let's not be too hard on him for only being slightly off for the first time in a long time.
