The White Sox are dumpster fire
The Blackhawks are too
The Bulls are mired in mediocrity
The Bears, are the Bears, still doing stupid shit
Maybe the Cubs make the playoffs this year

I can't think of another time when at least one team wasn't at least contending for a title. Is this the worst ever?

Let's go back just twenty years

Mid 2000s you had the Bears and the White Sox

Late 2000's the Blackhawks dynasty starts that lasts till 2016, the Thibs try hard era starts too

Cubs 2015-2017

But we really haven't had shit in this town since 2017-2018

We've seen 5 championships from these teams in the past 20 years. The Bears, Cubs, and Hawks future look bright. The White Sox have one of the top 5 players in baseball under control until 2027.

The Sox went to the playoffs back to back years. The Sox and Cubs were in the playoffs the same year.

That's great. What of relevance has happened in this town in the past 3-4 years?

And I don't wanna hear the bullshit about the Bear's future looking bright. They are 10-24 the past two seasons and just repeated the same, keep the coach/spin the Offensive Coordinator wheel bullshit they have been doing since Lovie.

The Blackhawks drafted young Gretzky. The Bears are in a position to draft an all time great quarterback. The Cubs have a great farm system, the best Justin in Chicago, and should be a playoff team. The Sox have Robert. The Bulls have Benny.

I'm not sure about "era", but the best team in Chicago in 2002 was the 81-81 White Sox. These teams were led by Bill Cartwright, Brian Sutter, Dick Jauron, Don Baylor and Jerry Manuel.

All major Wisconsin sports teams are better than any Chicago team, period.

The Columbine-9/11 interregnum was the best era for a lot of life but the worst for Chicago sports. Bears were bad, Cubs were bad, Bulls ceased to exist, the Hawks were coached by a Finnish playwright, and I guess the Sox won the Central over the Indians but didn't do anything with it.

The 70s were bad but I was too young to care too much. I do remember caring about the Sox though. It all started to change in 1983 with the White Sox going on a huge second half run and hiring of Ditka

Since the Cubs loss in the 2017 NLCS, things have been pretty bleak. A quick glance at that site tells me it’s as bad as it’s been since the city had more than baseball.

2020 was ok, but kind of a bullshit year so doesn’t count.

i agree. there is nothing about the bears that says they are on the right track. its a sham organization. everyone above the HC position is a fucking grifter and we just keep giving those assholes money.

the bulls arent any better. you can see it around both teams. star players laugh at the idea of coming to chicago. it's a joke of the league.

Check the records of all the teams in the mid- to late-70s. Absolute bottom. Individuals like Payton and Van Lier were what we had to cheer for. Hawks would make the playoffs, but get bounced immediately. Cubs, Sox and Bears were all hopeless.

They include MLS but ignore the WNBA and Chicago Sky's 2021 title over Brittney Griner's Phoenix Mercury

What about the Karl-Heinz Granitza led Sting who won the 1st Chicago championship since the 63 Bears?

One of my brothers was a big soccer player and fan back in the days where that was only reserved for immigrants and counterculturalists. He is much older than me, so he could drive when I was still just a young kid. We went to several Sting games both outdoor and indoor. I thought it was great. It seemed so exotic with the unusual names. I never played a minute of soccer in my life.

Has to be the longest streak of non playoff appearances by all five pro teams combined.

Bulls were in 2022 and the Sox in 2021. If it weren’t for the fact that almost everyone made the playoffs in the NHL I’d say the late 70s were worse.
