That's peanuts. I believe the 49ers got a 3rd and a 5th. The 49ers also drafted a bum with the 3rd pick.

2nd, 4th and 3rd round next year.. that'd be nice.

Why would that be nice? Do you think C-Will and Maye are the same player?

Same player? No.. same low % of them becoming a franchise qb? Yes..

So you think all of the quarterbacks in this class are JAGs? How many franchise guys do you believe are currently in the NFL?

I doubt it. Most players get a pass for a bad rookie year.

But if he can't even outperform (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky in his first 3 years like Fields didn't then yeah it would be time to move on.

Penix is 17 months older than Williams.

The knees are concerning but Penix had no issues at Washington.

That's because Williams was very old for a player entering college.

It would be nice to have a kid like JJ McCarthy who is young enough to play for 25 years but age doesn't really matter with quarterbacks. You do fear the older guys being finished products.

We may be disappointed with the draft capital we can get from trading Fields. It appears Atlanta won't be interested.

“When you get those guys that are elite processors,” said Morris. “When you get those guys that are decision-makers. When you get those guys that can just cut it loose and play ball, it makes you excited.”

I've only seen him play three times, but I like Penix a lot. He'll be 24 in May, which isn't that old.

The guy seems to read the field well and throws with anticipation. Strong, accurate arm with good pocket presence.

I read where Penix had a bad senior bowl week of practice. That is probably not going to help him.

Every throw is a line drive missile. He processes better than most, but I'm still not sure about him. That throwing motion doesn't help either.

Penix looked Biden-esque hobbling off the field post National Championship game. you'd have to scheme for Penix not to take a lot of hits, like McDaniel did with Tua this season down in Miami. But eventually he's going to take hits and likely miss a lot of games before retiring early.

Fair or not, I don't think there will be a honeymoon. On day one, he'll be asked to do things no Bears quarterback has been asked to do. He'll get booed if he struggles in his first home game.

If he demonstrates moderate familiarity with the concept of throwing the ball forward quickly then it's already a major improvement.

Part of it will be due to his having replaced Justin Fields. The other part will be because he was the No.1 overall pick. Usually No. 1 overalls are expected to come in and start. At least when it comes to fans and their expectations. And lastly it will be the kid himself. When you are as brash as he and his family happen to be then you have to be able to back it up. And also not be provided with a "learning curve" either. I wouldn't expect him to come out of the gate and be an All Pro. But he should definitely look like that he belongs. If he comes out of the gate and is obviously overmatched, then he is going to get bashed. That comes with the territory when you run your mouth as much as he has.

Better than voluntarily taking sacks like your guy the 23rd best QB does.

A number one overall pick will be a disappointment if he does not win a Super Bowl. It does not matter if he follows Rex Grossman, Tom Brady, or Justin Fields.
