Women may be weak and frail and unable to throw a football but they are very good at judging men.

The tag window is from the 20th of February until March 5th. That's when we'll know what's possible in free agency.

Do Bears tag Johnson if they can't get a deal done?

$46 million in cap room now, you get around $24 million after you cut Jackson and Whitehair, but that would go to Johnson if you sign him, so $40 million or so to fill numerous holes, a top center will cost you $12-14 million, not sure if they can do a top FA center and top FA DE given the numerous holes on offense.

They have to keep Johnson. Tag him, sign him…either way, the guy is staying.

Signing him makes more sense because then you can play with the cap hit. They'll likely tag him and work out a deal by July. He'll be a Bear. That said, I worry about his shoulder long term.

that is really brilliant

Did you make that joke?

I'm going to use it, unattributed, but I'd at least like to give you credit here if you did.

New England should be on that list. The Vikings are my darkhorse team.

New England +1600
Minnesota +3500

Your Steelers idea has a little steam, from -1600 down to -800

That's Atlanta's new OC and HC. Guess they're not trading for Fields.

The Steelers may be the only game in town. The Patriots could possibly join in.

That is eventually what will happen, just like it did with Mitch.

I just don't see how Justin Fields would be attractive to an nfl team as a starter right now. Unless there's a head coach gm combo on the hot seat looking to overpay for a chance to catch lightning in a bottle, he really has low priority value. And who's left that fits that description? Everyone was fired or quit that might.
He'd be a terrible option for a new coach given the win now expectation for new regimes. Why bring in a guy that's shown no ability to learn or run a system?
Logically he would fit in as a back up for a team with an older quarterback that allows him to sit for awhile.
What's that worth to a team...a 4th rounder? I think they'll get more, but I don't think it'll be a easy as we were hoping.

I can see him having success in Pittsburgh. He's better than anything they have at quarterback. I can't see him winning in any other situation.

3.38 sacks per game as a three year vet... unprofessional.

Have read a few ex-coaches that say Fields could be very effective in a two TE run oriented offense where you give him simple and easy reads where he can take off or hit the TE or RB depending on the SS/LB leverage, could see him being effective in this for a few years until he took too many hits and slowed down.

They have a team that made the playoffs with a combo of Pickett/(Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky/Rudolph. I don't think Fields is a good solution, but I do think he's better than Pickett. Would all depend on the draft pick required to get him.

He ain't even have regular season success here, how's he gonna have it elsewhere. He's had maybe six good games out of 40. How people still think this guy has untapped potential is completely crazy.

Whomever trades for Fields is a bit dumb actually. Wouldn't they have to pay him a ton of cash?

I guess it depends what you give up to get him. If it's a conditional draft pick then you get to see how he performs in your system before committing.

Right but isn't even the 4th year of a rookie contract still a good amount? He isn't going to be free as released if traded.
