In the context of the project, a one time $10m payment is a rounding error.

Aren't property taxes paid every year?

They can re-appeal next year under different circumstances.

One of their big issues is that they wanted the land treated as vacant when it wasn’t vacant for the majority of the year. Next year that won’t be the case.

Why would they dig with that uncertainty?

Digging? You kidding me. The Bears could be told “tax free” tomorrow and there will never be any digging. They don’t have 3 billion dollars and they will never get it.

Arlington Heights is happy. Like I said bears will jit’s pay whatever taxes they have to pay for 5 years or so then their dumb asses will realize they can’t raise free money and sell. Arlington Heights is thrilled that the bears are stupid.

Because they’ll make a lot of money when they’re done.

The Bears are gonna make billions by building the third-best strip mall in a 5-mile radius. YOU'LL SEE. YOU'LL ALL SEE.

They might as well buy Rockford, raze the whole city, and build the center of the NFL.

Bears, school districts fail to reach deal on Arlington Heights property value by deadline…

Ok. Like I said. No reason for them to budge on the taxes. Just tell them to pay the 10 million and make them appeal it forever. Because they will never build the stadium. They don't even need to meet with them anymore. Negotiate? Fuck that. Why? Bears will just pay this tax while trying to finance the stadium. Then they sell when nobody is willing to give them a fucking dime. It's so fucking simple.

You don't negotiate on property taxes. You pay what you owe or they take your property

Bears should send some empty busses to Texas and bring them back full to Arlington Heights.

No need to send empty buses, I am sure Texas has plenty more they would like to load.

K. I'll email Goodell. I think at this point, he's more powerful than Deep State.

Ya know, buying Arlington Park was literally the last thing Ted Phillips did before he retired. The last thing he convinced George to do.

Teddy: Ya gotta do it, George. Ya gotta buy it. It's a "No lose".

George: I don't know. I gotta bad feeling. I don't think I could get things rolling on a stadium. Plus there might be other problems I'm not aware of. I'm not a real estate man.

Teddy: Trust me. Buy it.

It's going to be a repeat of 2002. We're going to end up with a scaled down version of the Arlington Heights model that looks ridiculous and has the same problems as the current Soldier Field. This organization is run by gays

That’s why they need to get this done. Diversify their revenues, stop renting from the park district like they’re throwing an 8yr old a birthday party, sell a more attractive asset if Ginny passes in 10-15 years…

There's definitely been some shark jumping over the last decade. The products themselves are declining in the midst of the over hyping of the peripheries. However, the legal gambling periphery is pretty huge. If I'm walking around seriously contemplating the Tigers +350 for the the Central, then they got me, don't they?

That's one end of it. Will that help pay the $100M per year salaries? Guys like Jordan and Cuban took a sizeable profit to "get out" early.

Yes, the handwriting is on the wall. But the situation is still fluid. I'm pretty happy a traditional MLB team won the WS. Will it affect anything? Probably not.

Gentlemen! We are not in the football business. We are in the Kyle Orton's Touchdown Bar & Grill business. We are in the "Payton Place: A Mixed-Use Residential Community" business. We are in the Mattress Firm Presented By Xfinity business.

Haven't people been anticipating the bursting of the sports bubble for the past thirty years? It'll happen at some point I suppose, but not in the next decade--at least as far as I can tell.

If the Bears can fuck up renting a stadium to Taylor Swift twice a year then…

Well…actually, yeah I could see that.
