It was a great ceremony and Chellie really did a nice speech. He really was a sports star that knew what how to have fun with the game and how to treat fans around the game. Seeing guys like Hossa again was excellent, also.

That sounds like Chelios from all the stories I've heard about him; Roenick too. Brought back some real good memories with so many 90s/2010s Blackhawk players in attendance.

Liked the tribute video. Hope he comes back for at least one season in a Hawks sweater.
Clean game so far; only one penalty through two.

Fun game to be at. I've loved seeing everybody too. Cindy Crawford shoot the puck!

And of course Kane scores on a breakaway in OT to win the game.

It had that feeling. Debrincat had a nice one to tie. I hope Toews is okay, odd that he is missing.

when you have Gretzky, Messier, John McEnroe, Kid Rock in the suite, Eddie Vedder, shooting the puck, Eddie Belfour in attendance, it was a great game to be at

seems as though roenick and amonte have made amends through the years..despite that, saw that they didn't sit next to each other on ice and weren't interviewed together after the ceremony. i'd say bygones are bygones for those 2 lifelong 'friends' from boston. the event was bigger than the 'issue'.

a bigger thumbs up for keith and sharp sitting next to each other. reminiscent of the sopranos and moltisantis eating together at artie's after some nasty rumors.

really loved roenick. i don't know if he's burned bridges, but most of the nhl establishment is still cool towards him. wish gretzky and messier would have been interviewed.

him and bedard on cherry-picker lane. hawks had a great chance to win in OT, thanks to kane's reluctance to play D, 3 vs. 3. jones tried to bulldoze the puck in, while kane still has the smooth hands and shot.

Awesome ceremony and evening last night!
Haven't wasted almost 5 hours watching TV in ages.
Only negative was the missing Captain Serious. Hope he's okay.
Easiest prediction of the night was Kaner winning it for DETROIT SUCKS!!! after The Cat's softie.

OPAA Chelios!!!

listened to and watched some canadian media today - everyone had great thoughts - praised chelios' speech and complimented the blackhawks for the ceremony.

my favorite story was from a former leaf broadcaster. said the leafs were in pittsburgh during the 92-93 season. pat burns was the coach of the leafs and keenan was doing color for tsn network for that game. burns had coached chelios in montreal and obviously, keenan coached chelios in chicago.

in the hotel lobby, burns and keenan talked about chelios non-stop and debated who had the 'better' chelios. burns was so angry with canadiens' GM serge savard for trading away chelios, that he didn't speak to him for a few months. chelios and savard each had a bum knee and which player would recover better? savard is 1 year older than chelios, i believe. montreal is a great hockey town, but also, full of french 'capriccio', especially talking about others' private lives. glad that chelios got out of montreal 'in time'.

This (and taxes) is why lots of Canadian players throw shitfits about actually playing in Canada and would rather fuck off to Raleigh and Nashville where no one recognizes them. No one can tell Jordan Staal from the junior vice president of "InfinitEdge Telesystems" or something and that's the way they like it. The problem is, you can't freeload off Toronto and Montreal's toxically fanatical culture indefinitely, where they suck while everyone else thrives in obscurity. Bunch of passengers.

yes, i can see that. too bad the wscr mid-day show didn't talk about this event and special hometown HOFer, maybe daniel from deerfield would have made the same point?

local sport talk station and local HOFer. checked the score's podcasts: am show dedicated time to event and chelios, parkins and spiegel gave it some time; spiegel more interested in talking about his singing with chelios' malibu mob. parkins got in a great line about jordan making his bereavement excuse call from the golf course.

the mid-day crew wanted to talk about ayo. unfortunately, chelios played a sport that daniel from deerfield believes is anti-lgqtbdgsheo and is a waterhole for evil people - due to a lack of poc players.

i do believe that if chris chelios was born saul weinstein, we would have got a full hour on the event and player. white south sider who befriended jordan and rodman. fake friendships wouldn't have compelled jordan to make a call and rodman to show up in person.

he was there and chelios did thank him and the other 5 ex teammates. it was fleeting and chelios mentioned he was given only so many seats for guests.

i remember the problem between roenick and amonte, where roenick messed amonte up with a vicious slash. it was good to see that they had semi-buried the hatchet. no way amonte and keenan (if invited) would have inter-acted.

Chelios modeled and endorsed a tv shirt by our friends at Relish Brand (Grayslake). I now forgive Chelios for going to the Red Wings.
