I don't know wtf it is, could be. Aren't a lot NFL GM's, including the Bears GM, non-white these days? I dunno.

RGIII talks about how he was brought into B'More to mentor Lamar cuz Flacco gave even fewer fucks (Flacco a "lead by example guy" was RGIII's polite way of saying that) off-the-field than he appears to give on the field. At least RGIII made sense in terms of being potentially a season-saving/win-a-game-against-a-weak-opponent backup for a few games as well as similar playing style to Lamar. But if you're suddenly starting Nathan Peterman, you're fucked.

the stuff about mentoring Fields and Bagent's great; but then hire dude to be your QB coach, not the primary backup to your likely to get injured run-first QB1.

I don't think anyone said the falcons would acquire both fields or Wilson. The question was who would the falcons rather acquire between fields and Wilson. BD seems to think a win now team would clearly prefer a losing QB like Fields because a losing QB like Fields is the missing piece a losing team needs to become a winning team. BD was unable to provide evidence that a losing QB like Fields can vault the falcons into the playoffs, as he claimed.

Again, if you think a team is going to sign Russell Wilson, they are probably also committing to drafting a QB in Round 1. Teams already know what Russell Wilson is. If Atlanta really likes one of the top 4-6th ranked QB's, this may be a strategy they pursue.

Fields has more upside than Russell Wilson and doesn't require you use a 1st round pick on another QB. Some teams think he will get better. You don't. That's fine.

The problem is that acquiring Fields likely requires a 2nd rd pick now and then they'' still have to use a 1st down the line if he continues to disappoint. That would also mean the Falcons continue to be mediocre despite having some promising pieces that could win right away with a decent QB. Wilson gives them a better chance to win now and the drafted QB could help maintain success into the future. Additionally, the 2025 QB class doesn't appear to be as deep, so if Fields plays well enough to get ATL near .500 their pickings will be slim if they decide to move on.

Perhaps.

If he doesn't work out, Atlanta would move on. Fields would get 2 years in Atlanta (or anywhere). I don't think anyone is going to trade for him without picking up that option year.

I don't agree Wilson gives Atlanta a better chacne to win, but we'll see what path they take - Russ/draft pick vs. Fields. Maybe they shock everyone and give Cousins 2 years 80 million guaranteed.

Wilson is a cancer and not good at football. You don't bring him in if you're trying to win. Unless the Falcons use their 8th pick on a quarterback, they'll likely bring in a QB worse than Fields that has very little upside.

I don't like Wilson either, but what does it say about Fields in that in his third year he failed out to outperform a clearly declining QB in Wilson. Again, Minshew outperformed Fields. How people think Fields is the missing piece for any team is inexplicable.

You're buying the potential with Fields. Wilson being a cancer doesn't help him.

Falcons 2024 play a 3rd place schedule in a weak-sauce division. Steelers play a 3rd place schedule in maybe the toughest division in the league.

Chargers/Bengals both get last place schedules in 2024. We'll see how Stroud does with a 1st place schedule in 2024--Texans 2023 success partially the result of last place schedule + weakest division in the league. Stroud/Texans offense should be fine. They could use some help in the defensive back-field.

That's all Payton and Payton knows he's worthless. He appears to process slower than Fields and he can't run.

His stats were quite similar to those he put up in his last 4 yrs with Seattle. The only real down year came in 2022 under Hackett.

His numbers last season weren't bad, but when you watch him, he does look washed up.

As Nas said, there's going to be a team or two that wants to take a shot at Fields because of the potential. I think most NFL teams will be very skeptical of adding Williams without a rookie they want to move to early. The same will go with Flacco and Jimmy G (who are probably both backups, but could start temporarily).

I still think you're underestimating the vets and overstating Fields potential. The numbers support the vets over the Fields. You're obviously projecting a year 4 explosion for Fields, but after failed explosive growth between year one and two and year two and three, it's not clear why you just assume it will magically happen between year three and four.

im on that train too. if he showed strides in growth it would be different. i do think he was better in year 3 overall, but again the record speaks and if we are looking for a franchise guy, i dont see what makes him that.

i do like the guy though. he does give everything on every play. if he stays i wont be mad. other teams have won more with less at qb (JOE FLACCO).

Another bozo that doesn't knowshit about football. It would be hilarious if this idiot tried to tell us all about what "appears to process" means and thinks Fields is SLOW.

There are a lot of good running backs on the market and the Bears shouldn't attempt to sign any of them to a big deal.

I think you wait that one out. Those guys will get jumpy about their situation, especially after the draft.

Unless Herbert improves as a blocker, we have to elevate Johnson. You can't allow him to get the kid killed.

Still, that mfer dominated on the field from his very first year in the SEC. He is a good blocker as well.

I don't think I'd take any of the DE at 9. I'd trade down if that was the way they were going.

drake maye addressed the (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky UNC fear of bears fans

https://www.yahoo.com/sports/drake-maye-addresses-fan-concerns-143417010.html

maybe it's over analyzing, but the article states

Quote:
Maye confirmed that he had a formal meeting with the Bears at the combine, where he said he tried to let them know who he is as a person. He felt they didn’t know much about him — pretty much because they haven’t gotten the chance to spend time with him yet. But that should change as this pre-draft process progresses.

this means they arent considering him serious right? i for one have an unrational fear of drafting another bust UNC qb

I heard complete from two sources (cbs online and another I can't remember)

just remember how badly Pace was vilified for not thoroughly scouting all the possible top QB when he passed on Mahomes

This is the anti Pace approach
