more minutes than the hawks x blues st. patricks day massacre. not sure the home-team tough guy hero beat up the visiting tough guy at center ice, but if i remember correctly, the flyers and sens had bad blood for previous games from stick incidents. usually the case.

if greg fox of the 82-83 blackhawks slashes the oilers wayne gretzky on the wrist, you knew that semenko or d. jackson would seek out justice. maybe take a shot at savard and the feud escalates.

noticed that some media here downplayed the slash on bedard - including t.v.'s boyle, who at first was nodding his head in agreement with john scott, who asked why the hawks didn't respond to the slash. the anti-goon brigade must have gotten to boyle. wscr had mark lazerus on the other day, and leila and loho told us that bedard said it was no big deal. what is he supposed to say....."yeah, we're going to take out mckinnon the next time"?? lazerus was surprisingly old-school about the slash.

I remember attending a hawks / Minnesota North Stars game in the 80's when they had a bench-clearing brawl before the game even started.

Refs (and at least one player) no helmets. I do remember Bruce Hood. Fighting starts maybe 30 seconds into the game. Will need to watch more of it when I get time.
