It's to die for

The Giants play in New Jersey. Nobody would have cared if they had a nice ass stadium in The Region

There's definitely been some shark jumping over the last decade. The products themselves are declining in the midst of the over hyping of the peripheries. However, the legal gambling periphery is pretty huge. If I'm walking around seriously contemplating the Tigers +350 for the the Central, then they got me, don't they?

That's one end of it. Will that help pay the $100M per year salaries? Guys like Jordan and Cuban took a sizeable profit to "get out" early.

Yes, the handwriting is on the wall. But the situation is still fluid. I'm pretty happy a traditional MLB team won the WS. Will it affect anything? Probably not.

Haven't people been anticipating the bursting of the sports bubble for the past thirty years? It'll happen at some point I suppose, but not in the next decade--at least as far as I can tell.

I think the issue this time is the revenue from cable. They're struggling to reimagine that. Where will the future revenue come from? They're going to have to rein in salaries.

Gary is like Englewood, but worse in nearly every way. No trains, tolls, and constant construction on 80/94 would have murdered the idea before the first Bulletproof Vest Night.

No train is not a deal breaker. Less than 1% take the Metra now to Bears games

i want to pull up near the stadium, fire up a grill, open a beer, have sex, and leave the car overnight.

Bears at the 78 would be incredibly Metra-friendly. You could even get Amtrak riders from downstate. Sure, that might mean you don't get to stand around in a parking lot throwing beanbags at plywood and eating Polish sausage off a portable grill, but that's hick stuff anyway.

I know a couple of people who have a running tailgate, where one guy drives the rv down early, holds the spot and starts prep. Everyone else shows up on their own by different modes of transportation

Gary is moving farther away from their ticket base and getting to a point where it is a prohibitive distance. AH is the opposite.

It would be a huge pain in the ass going north to south to have battle through traffic at the downtown chokepoint THEN an additional traffic at the stadium. I know it's a pain in the ass for sox games and there is practically no traffic at the stadium. I could envision it being 1.5 hours each way and that is with leaving early.

But why did the Bears wait another week to save at least $4 million a year!

This stadium is happening. It's always been the only option unless the city comes in with a $2 billion check. They just had to play these games with the greedy politicians looking for their piece.

It would seem baseball would be the first sport to see a decline, already see a few small market teams dealing with the death of RSN's, might have MLB come in to provide streaming of local games, whenever you start to limit the number of eyes that can see your product you stop building your fanbase.

Does seem to make sense to build multipurpose domed stadiums that can hold trade shows, concerts, and other sporting events year-round, you get more out of the facility, and insulate against any possible decline in pro sports.

I'm sure K-word is great at telling people what to do. They probably get up early like Kevin Warren.

Right. They could have been working on getting funding for the stadium while fighting the taxes. Could have worked on both at the same time. He didn't. The only reason he moved on it was cuz Reinsdorf moved first and was gonna take all the money before he even asked.

This reminds me of when people at the city hated Michael Mc Caskey so much during negotiations on the soldier field rehab that they had to bring Sweaty Teddy in as the point man...which lead to him having a say on everything in the organization for 20+ bad years of football

Kevin Warren doesn’t do stadiums. Kevin Warren doesn’t do business. Kevin Warren doesn’t do revenue.

Those people are taking over the beloved. I was fine with the hiring on minority men, but this diversity shit is going too far. They're climbing over our backs and they will want to touch our Super Bowl trophies. This is absolutely unacceptable.

Just fire Warren and put the ladies in charge.

I’m viewing this the same way I view a coach insulating himself with bad coordinators. Offense sucks? Fire the OC and take over play calling. Defense sucks? Fire the DC and promote a positional coach. Always point fingers not thumbs.

Can’t develop a stadium? Fire the stadium development lady and appoint yourself to the job you were supposed to do.

They're going to put a Sephora in the stadium aren't they?

Yeah, he's a disaster. I suspect he leaked to Schefter that he wants to keep Fields. Firing him would be the smart thing to do. It'll give him more time to blow himself.
