Says the guy posting in the Bears thread  Jaire signed that contract years ago. For all his big talk, Poles worked Jaylon over on this deal. Only the 8th highest paid CB in the NFL now (average salary per year)

Jaylon Johnson took less so he can play for a Super Bowl team.

He's at like 2nd or 3rd when it comes to guarantees, IIRC.

We have to hope that the mid season interception spree was him developing rather than a hot streak.

The Jaylon Johnson coming into the season wasn't worth this deal for his production and he's never played 16 games

I completely agree. I was going to ask earlier if it made sense to trade him. As long as he doesn't use his shoulder he should be solid.

It was going to get done...even the Bears couldn't fuck this up, though they tried...you have a lockdown corner for 4 years and he'll be more than affordable as the deal goes on (and your pockets are stuffed with cash anyway)...the box is checked (barring injury) so let's move on to more important things, shall we

Didn't his interceptions come as a result of an improved pass rush?

Your calculations don't factor for inflation or the cap increasing.

He probably could have had him for $15M a year before the trade deadline.

and about 12 before the season, although he didn't value himself like that so he wasn't going to sign until the market showed him

he dropped like 5 huge ints. everyone told him to grab the bags and he didnt. doesnt mean he will suck again this year, so its a good move by Poles.

I need to see what the Bears do in free agency first. If they can fill a few important holes, I think you have to swing for the fences in the draft. Trade up with the Patriots and land the #3 pick. If that means you must give up your 2025 first and the Panthers 2nd, so be it. If you get it right, the selection will be in the 20's.

DJ Moore is a slightly better version of Allen Robinson. He's a reliable target for any quarterback, but his ceiling is as a top 10 to 15 receiver. Giving Caleb Williams a Marvin Harrison would allow him to grow and develop with a legit #1. A guy who has top 5 receiver potential. That's better than hoping to hit on the 4 or 5th rated receiver in the draft.

Make it happen!

"I was told at the combine that the New England Patriots would trade back if Jayden Daniels did not drop to their slot," Pauline wrote. "Just today, I heard further that several scouts from the Patriots organization are not fans of Maye, who really struggled down the stretch of the season."

Maybe they'd exchange with Atlanta as I assume they want in on other QBs and 9 is too far back. I know 8 is just one spot sooner but conceivably it's a slightly lighter risk than dropping back to 9.

Give them Fields. If they truly want another quarterback, Penix, Nix, and others will be there at 9. I suspect they will role with Mac Jones and Zappe this year and fill other needs.

I just think Fields is more of the same for them. If I were them I'd roll with a rookie.

it would be somewhat wasteful spending.... but i'd be excited if they signed saquon. I think he has a couple years left in him.

Can he block? I think I remember him being a good blocker. I wouldn't want a Jacobs. He's definitely not better than Herbert and he can't block either.

More money to spend this offseason.

The Bears can also walk away from Sweat after next year if he declines. Poles isn't fucking the Bears long-term.

Kmet after this year if he sucks.

Saquon is a decent and very willing blocker. I will be sad if he leaves the Giants. Definitely not looking good, though they are still talking.

The Bears need a fast motherfucker who can catch passes out of the backfield as a safety valve/checkdown receiver.

Someone like Gibbs. They also need someone to help a rookie not get killed. Herbert was a more willing blocker last year, but he was average at best. I have no clue what Johnson is. He looked promising when the season started, but he didn't look useful by the end of the season.
