Two football bigfoots breaking down tape, must have been a sight to behold.

Does Andy Reid sit next to you guys at the super duper secret Facebook group meetings?

Lol, I am just a meatball. I try to make an honest assessment of players, but I am usually drinky during games.

A 31 year old safety. The odds say his tenure with the Bears will be bad.

He's gotta be better than Jackson.

A lot of this is old but he appears to have great ball skills.

Still have over $63 million in cap space, wondering if they take a shot at Wilkins who is looking at $20 plus million a year, or if they sign guys like Samuel, Barkley, Cushenberry and Greenard all for between $9-14 million?

Interesting how the entire NFL all of a sudden decided to cut high priced vet safeties at the same time.

From SI:

According to a report from the Washington Post reporter Jason La Canfora, Falcons owner Arthur Blank thinks highly of the current Chicago Bears quarterback.

"Multiple rival executives suggested to me that Falcons owner Arthur Blank is higher on Fields, a former first-round pick, than many of his football staffers, and Atlanta is doing a lot of work on free agents Kirk Cousins and Russell Wilson, as well," La Canfora writes. "I expect one of those three will land in Atlanta."

Lol the non football owner likes him while the football people who do football for a living don't like him. Perfect symbolism for this whole artificial fields "debate" in Chicago.

It also could partly be because Fields isn't going to cost $100 million for the next two years.

That's true but, but then why not just draft a QB at 8. Even cheaper.

You'll likely be way over drafting the 5th best QB in the draft though with a team you want to win now with and they can also get an immediate impact player.

I think for me I don't understand the value of Fields as your starter unless you're running an offense that doesn't require him to read coverages and make decisions. Recipe for 7-11 at best.

Isn't Denver on the hook for only the 1st year? If so, that makes sense to me. Why would another team want to give Russell more than the 1 year given that he does appear to be on the downside of this career? If he does play well, Pittsburgh can pay him.

Why is the 5th-best QB in the draft worse than Fields?

1) Williams
2) Daniels
3)Maye
4)McCarthy
5)Penix or Nix

I personally rather have Penix than Fields.

Fields is a low cost lottery ticket that would cost a third round pick at worst and a second round pick if he excels and you get to keep pick #8 and get a player who starts from day one.

There aren't a lot of great answers for the Falcons who want to win now. Fields is as good as any of them.

I personally rather have Penix than Fields.

They have a very high failure rate.

Plus, with the 8th pick in the draft, you can get a player that is an immediate starter at another position.

Fields already is a failure. Penix will probably be a starter during his rookie season; he is far more equipped to do so than Fields was.

I partially agree. You're higher on Fields than I am. I see no potential there since he refused to adjust his game to fit the pros. Id still rather roll with the rookie. We've already seen what drafting a skill player high (Pitts) does when you don't have a competent QB to run the offense. It'd be repeating history if they go skill at 8 and acquire Fields to run the offense.

Cousins is apparently going to see if he can finalize a deal with Atlanta after the formal negotiating period opens in a little bit.

I can see a team going that way but most of the time the 4th or 5th best QB in a class fails. I don't think Atlanta has a really good option.

maybe fields stays put afterall. let the qb injuries happen then move him in season? i thought'd there be more of a market for him. coaches usually have egos... they think they can fix fields and make him elite... but i guess not so much.

somebody will trade for him, it is still early. I think with all of the QB's in the draft a lot of teams are wanting to see if they have a legit chance at the guy they want at their draft position. Some team is going to need a QB and will come calling.

That'd be a great way to divide the locker room and piss off Caleb Williams, all so they could possibly get a third-round pick in return for Fields.

Like who? And what are they giving up? A third or fourth? Big deal.

The Bears were unlikely to ever get more than a 3rd for him to begin with. Some team will will make an offer for him eventually. I still think Minnesota would be an interesting place for him.
