Again, capspace doesn't carry over

He doesn't have to spend it all in 24 hours. The Chargers are going to have to cut some really good players, there's future trade opportunities, extensions, and 2nd wave of free agency guys. Very rarely do HUGE free agent signings work out.

The Chargers are going to be cutting guys on the wrong side of 30. Ideally you wanted to get the guys in their mid 20's coming off their first contract and those guys are pretty much all off the board.

The Bears offered Barkley and Gabe Davis deals. They wanted to play in another city. There's nothing you can do about that. Wilkins got Chris Jones money, and giving a 30 year old edge rusher a fully guaranteed contract would have been stupid. It's more likely that he'll decline or be injured than duplicating his production for 2 years.

This is the same thing Good Dolphin said last year when he admonished CFMB to wait for the ensuing waves of free agency. And then nothing happened.

Poles is using FA to fill out the roster rather than load up with 1 or 2 big names. I think one of the reasons for this is they aren’t getting the returns they thought they would on a Fields trade and he doesn’t have as much draft capital early in as he’d like. The impact players for this roster will come in the draft via QB and possibly WR. Makes me wonder if they’re considering staying at #9 too so they can grab another high impact guy high in the draft rather than trade back to acquire assets.

So the Bears contingent went to Corvallis first to see the OT, could be a good pick at 9. Conveniently they then went to Eugene

I liked Davis as a possible #2 if they didn't draft a receiver, but there isn't a player that I'm pissed that we didn't overpay for. Again, most big ticket free agent signings end up bad and put you in cap hell. I'm cool with having flexibility for when we're going for a Super Bowl.

They got the pass rusher that MANY wanted them to sign during the initial wave. Well, he forgot how to rush the passer and then got hurt. Thankfully it was a one year rental.

Nope.

The afternoon drive guy in Raleigh totalled up the sum of all trades for McCaffrey, Burns, Moore, and their 2023 and 2024 1sts. The return was pathetic beyond Young.

It's inexplicable that three years in a row he has gone the route of starting someone else's backup guard as his center.

I will lose my shit if they draft a center at #9 when there was talent available in free agency. It wasn't even overly expensive.

I've always been confused by what he prioritizes on day 1 of free agency but particularly this year. This was a year where you take your time with the safety position. There was a glut of talent. He jumped the gun on a 31 year old former star who has shown signs of fading. Then, with a desperate need to find a RB who has the desire to block someone, he chases a dilettante like Swift. The Lions traded Swift just to take a guy with a similar skill set, so they must have really found him flawed.

I trust Chris Morgan and Poles when it comes to the o-line. What would you have preferred Poles do in free agency? What contract should he have matched? Put your thoughts on record so we can judge them later.

If they use the 9 pick on a center we should all lose our shit. But they should most definitely use a pick on a C.

I don't see them picking at 9 unless a WR is on the board.

I would have signed Lloyd Cushenberry (4 years, $50), although I would have been fine with cheaper options in Biadasz (3, 30) or Morse (2, 10.5)

I would have gone with someone younger at safety Chauncey Gardner Johnson (3, 33) but there were a wealth of players

I was comfortable with the RB group. I would have rolled with what we had but signed a vet later in free agency. I would also put Velus Jones into a Cordarelle role.

I would sign KJ Osborn at WR and I would be looking for someone very early in the draft

I would have signed Z'darius Smith at DE (2,23) but I think he might be on the right track here with DJ Wonnum, so we will see.

What GD said, Cushenberry. We could have even signed the Bills starting center, but we gave up draft capital for his backup smh
