If I were a Fields Cultist, I would be thrilled. Arthur Smith developed successful offenses for other failed quarterbacks and MANY consider Tomlin to be a top 5 head coach.

3 years from now if he’s even still with the Steelers “ OMG the Bears fucked Fields so bad by trading him to Pittsburgh where he has to face two top five defenses four times a year AND Joe Burrow !!!!they did him dirty again!! They set him up to fail !!

He will only be talked about if Caleb busts. If Caleb starts winning playoff games, no one is going to care about Bustin.

MANY have already dubbed him "Bustin Loose" as a result of his being traded to the Steelers

Like Kiper said, if all you ever were going to trade him for was a 6th Rd pick then you should have kept him. The Bears are in "win now" mode and are trying to accomplish it with a rookie QB whom many think isn't all that good. If Eberflus doesn't make it happen this year he's toast. If Poles blows it he might be done as well. Terrible move

Hey LTG, do you think Fields will take notes using a pen and paper or do you think he'll spend most of his time on the sidelines using an iPad. Whichever way he can be of service to the starters I guess.

Notice how "Master Of The Obvious" Vegan has yet to make a proclamation as to what he expects from Caleb Williams yet? Just Asking A Question

LTG, in all seriousness, what numbers do you think Bustin will put up on opening day. Maybe 3 passing TDs and 2 rushing to shut the haters up? Whatchu got for that day?

I can see a Lauri Markannen type narrative formulating amongst Groupthink once Fields shines and Caleb flops.

I've started a thread on Caleb to share opinions from experts on his potential. Feel free to go there. You didn't answer about Bustin - what does the opening day box score look like for this rockstar no-doubt top 5 superstar phenom?

What relevance is Caleb when talking about Bustin? As far as I know, they are separate individuals, not conjoined twins.

I ask a third time - what kind of stat line is the top 5 superstar MVP Fields putting up on opening day?

"WE" KNOW YOUR THOUGHTS ON JUSTIN FIELDS. YOU TELL US 47 times per day. What do you think about Caleb Williams ?

Realistically speaking I think Williams would be prime for a rough first year.

In other words... we're fields and he to start the same number of games, I'm certain that Fields will outperform him next season.

That being said, we know what Fields is. What he can do. And I believe that's not enough to win meaningful games with. His athleticism is off the charts. No doubt. But he just doesnt... I dunno... quarterback. My thing is he plays like a one tool player. And if something happens to a leg he's done. Maybe with time and dedication you can build a team around a guy like Fields. This move to Pitts is nothing but upside for Fields I think. It just wasn't gonna happen here.
If we revisit this in three years, I believe we'd me talking about a guy who is beating Fields.
Hope is a dangerous thing.
I hope.

Lauri said himself what turned it around for him. Plus, if you had had the passion for him you do with Justin(which you didn't), you'd still have only half an argument. The other half would be revisionism.

"You just wait. Someday Lauri will go to a European summer tournament and the light's going to flick on" said no one.

The only Markkanen type narrative anywhere in the universe is your narrative.

Now if Fields becomes a success and Caleb is a bust, have a parade and I'll wave an LTG pennant. Because you have made a giant stink about both. IN REAL TIME.

No you won't. You'll just pretend that he stunk when he was here and use that as justification for moving him. Just as MANY others will do. Just as Firing Tony Larussa was a cure-all for all that ailes. Until he was actually fired and we lost 20 more games the following year. Or replacing Fields with Bagent was "just the spark the team needed". And then he got his chance and sucked ass. With MANY having forgotten that they actually clamored for him Justin Fields can become a Hall Of Fame player (with Caleb sucking) and Groupthink is still going to claim it was the correct move.

As far as Lauri goes I got it wrong and have admitted it. However for MANY to proclaim that it was correct move (as you continue to do (just to be right) is silly. Particularly with the contract he received.. and the numbers he produces.

Moves cannot be made in hindsight. Based all evidence we have to date, Justin is just not good enough. Caleb is simply a hope, and one that many say a top prospect coming out of college.

WYC? Trades are also 2nd guessed. And if Fields turns out to be good (highly likely) then this 8ne will be too. As it should be. This trade is a defining moment for Poles. If he misses then he should be shitcanned out the door.

Why are you saying if Fields is good. I thought you said he's already better than Mahomes, Burrow, Jackson and Stroud.

Rookie years are often rough and sometimes the qbs who succeed as rookies end up failing.

Williams is going to destroy what Fields did as a rookie though.

Oh man. A QB with better lineman, better receivers, and a better running game just might perform better than the other guy did as a rookie. What next? You knew that Jordan was going to perform better than Sedale Threat did his rookie year?

I hope both of them are wildly successful and meet in the Super Bowl.

Any Bears fan who doesn't want Fields to start 51% of the games next year is cutting off his nose to spite his face.
