I don't blame him. Who would throw him the ball? Also, I imagine he's already gotten a guarantee from the Cardinals.

Someone is going to fall in love with JJ McCarthy and either take him way too early or trade up if he is still on the board, either scenario helps the Bears.

Just have to wait to see if Odunze or Nabers drop, many mocks have four QB's going in the top 5 picks, but it is all based on Minnesota moving up to take McCarthy, if they cannot make that deal happen you and McCarthy is still there at #9 you are on the phone with the Vikes and Broncos seeing who will give you the best deal, you could still get Brian Thomas Jr. or one of the pass rushers at #11 or #12.

Are the Cardinals going to stay at #4? They seem willing to trade the pick. They talked openly about getting calls for the pick and being willing to see where things go.

They couldn't have been more obvious - all that's left for them to say is something like, "yeah we're open for business. Let's say a hypothetical team, let's call them the "Mikings," from "Vinnesota," want to grab McCarthy, then feel free to call our toll free number."

Yeah, it's going to be interesting to see what happens. The Bears may be forced to stay at #9.

AMAZING how boring the Bear's draft will be. No interesting trade down intrigue. its just the same old bullshit where they select a completely over-rated college quarterback from and school which has failed to develop quarterbacks in their history. Can't wait until the excuses for Williams failure as a NFL qb pour out.

It’s ‘clickbait’ season.. Harrison Jr will be the 1st WR taken. Nabers will be the 2nd. I do find this amusing tho.. remember just a few weeks ago when some of these same people speculated Odunze was going to go ahead of everyone else because he stayed late after the combine to do extra workouts..? it’s all nonsense. Harrison Jr’s tape doesn’t lie, he’s the best in this class and everyone who matters knows it.

Hopefully there will be some trade ups for QB’s in the top 10 moving the WR’s back a couple of spots so the Bears have a shot at one of them.

They will debate club their way to a selection

Quote:

The Bears appear to be pretty settled on what they’ll be doing with the first overall pick in this year’s draft, so the next few weeks are likely to center on discussion about their other first-round pick.

Chicago also has No. 9 in its control and head coach Matt Eberflus said last week that free agency has left the team able to be flexible about what “we feel fits us in that spot.” General Manager Ryan Poles said that the process of working that out will involve splitting the personnel staff up into teams to debate what direction is going to bring the Bears the most value.

“I like the numbers in terms of the talented players that can get to nine,” Poles said, via the team’s website. “We’re going to do some cool things when we get back, kind of break into teams. One team is going to talk about [why] the tackle position is the best to go after, [why] the receiver’s the best, [why] the defensive end’s the best and use factual information to spit that out — and we’ll have a debate in terms of what’s more impactful for our football team, short-term and long-term.”

Poles left the door open to trading down from No. 9 in addition to making a pick in that spot, so they’ll have to see what the teams in front of them do in addition to completing their in-house work before things get underway in Detroit this month.

it sure looks like we will get a great player at exactly the right position with #9, whether its WR or DE.

Don't come at me with a DT at 9. Maybe you do that if they trade down.

I wouldn't want Alt at #9 either. I'm not sure how long a 6'9" guy will hold up or how much he would impact the throwing lanes of a 6'1" quarterback. Besides, I prefer o-linemen with attitudes.

They will have a great trade option if Alt is there, maybe even only with a one spot move down

I'm not sure how healthy Bowers is, but if he's healthy, you should consider him in a trade down. I have a stronger opinion of him than any player who may be available at #9. He appears to love football and shouldn't be punished because Kyle Pitts doesn't.

I completely agree. Even with shit quarterbacks he popped off the screen. The kid has been unbelievable and he's being treated like he's just a guy.

I agree, I have said since the very first game I saw him at Georgia, he is different.

Isn't Laporta basically top 5 TE right now?

Maybe. I like LaPorta, but Bowers is next level. I could see him being the best TE in the NFL by his 2nd season.

I would love a next level TE but I hope we're not underrating Laporta here. PFF graded him #5 overall as a rookie. I mean id love Laporta right now but if Bowers is better then cool, I hope that's true.

So who are the Bears taking at #9?

Biggs, who called the Wright pick last year, says the Bears will pick Odunze.

Is he really significantly better than guys they could get later in the round? Is he any better than them?

The NFL Network says that MHJ has made only two top-30 visits: to the Cardinals and Bears.

Does Poles have the stones to trade up for him?

They are drafting an Edge at 9. 100%. In that combine video with Poles in Eberflus, Poles said "If he's there we are taking them". The clothes they were wearing that day matched what they wore to St Elmo's that night, and that day was defensive lineman day at the Combine.
