Douchebag. It a word we throw around with some impunity. But we must remember that douchbag behavior is often a symptom of MDBD (Major Douchebag Behavorial Disorder). Some of these poor souls have screen names right here at the Chicago Sports Fan Message Board. Remember, we are in a battle against MDBD and we need your help. Together, we can make a difference. Together, we can contain MDBD and make strides against it's proliferation in the future.
For every vote in the Douchebag of the Week Poll, Darkside will donate $0.01 to the fight against MDBD. We encourage you to make donations as well. Show the people that yes, there can be an end to MDBD today!
So here are this weeks nominees:

George W. Bush: Nominated by a poster with similar approval ratings, POTUS takes a shot across the bow from Elmhurst Steve. While we have Bush to thank for the election of several highly placed Democrats, he could also had a habit of making mistakes while speaking and generally looking silly. He can't be that bad, can he? Two wars, a recession/depression, most successful terrorist attacks against us, multi trillion dollar deficits, and a housing and credit meltdown all happened on his watch, but hey, it could happen to anyone right? Does this make Bush a douchebag?

Brian Urlacher: Magic 1 brings the smack back, Jack, with the nomination of our favorite monotone middle linebacker. He didn't like the fans booing them. No one likes to be booed. Maybe they were saying Boooabitch. Or maybe booofoxsports.com/JayGlaser. Not sure. Don't know. Does this make him a douchebag? Or just a whiny baby?

Young Man on ABC Election Coverage: Ugueth Will Shiv You made a fairly solid nomination with this one. Whilst celebrating Obama's historic win on Tuesday, he told a reporter that now he will go to college and start a business. Pressed whether he would have done that anyway, the young man said... no. And this makes him a douchebag to several people. Beardown says the guys in college he knew that started a business are pot dealers (can you PM a brother with a decent dealer's number?), Doug points out that this young man was Obamatized. What do you think?

Lovie Smith: Oh boy oh boy oh boy Mac left the MJH section and made a post! About a Douchebag! Who's a high profile Chicago FIGUREHEAD! Bear #2 to be nominated this week regardless of their better than we thought season. Mac is looking for a more firey leader, on with more yelling and foaming at the mouth. More intensity. Maybe drop your pants or something? Nas and SteveSarley presented dissenting opinions that were worth reading (but apparantly not responding to  ), and Nas even got a nice shot at Coast2Coast in this thread. So, you gonna vote for Lovie?

Circuit City (calls it quits): Count Floyd has been posting at a frenzied rate lately, this one directed at Circuit City, I think for going out of business or killing his son's job. I don't miss Circuit City. I used to work at Best Buy. The one I worked at in Schaumburg was about a block away from Circuit City. I went in there once in my Best Buy shirt cause I wanted "Pulse" and it was sold out at BB so I strolled over to CC after work one day. They were following me around and keeping like 10 steps behind me. Everytime I turned around they would pretend like they were stocking shelves or something. It was really creepy. Leaving the place I half expected some "rover" to come grab me or something. So are they douchebags?

Me?: Ugueth Will Shiv You thinks he is defective as an American because he does not feel as though Tuesday were "The Best Day Of His Life". Of course, had he ever had to lay his life on the line in battle to preserve that right, he might feel differently, but he's young, we'll let that pass. TOKC points out that this is simple hyperbole, people on camera giving the camera what it wants. So were these overexcited mopes onto something, or are they just douchebags? Or was it Ugueth?

Republicans: Always a popular choice, sir. They apparently sent out official looking documents to Democrats stating that they vote on the 5th instead of the 4th like the rest of us, and that got Nas's blood a-boilin. This is douchy behavior but what's douchier, doing it or actually expecting those people to believe it? Let's pretend that this doesn't happen on both sides of the aisle and live in lollipop-gumdrop land for a moment. In this mindframe, can we look at this behavior and call it douchy? This thread also featured spmack pulling Message Board Rank on another poster. It was epic. Vote today!

CSFMB, these are your nominees this week. Vote well. Vote often. Vote next week if you're a democrat, and watch your back if you vote and you're a Hispanic. I will post later this afternoon which candidates Castro supports. If you park to vote you'll get your car towed, but only if you vote for this one. So get up people! Rock the VOTE!

Lovie gets it, but for reasons other than the ones Mac listed. Specifically, the suckfest we have to watch week after week and a first round exit should they make it to the playoffs.

Sorry Ugueth. I didn't think you were a DB because you weren't excited. You got my vote because of your views of others that happened to feel differently than yourself.

You explained that you weren't excited about voting. That's fine. But you acted like black people in particular thought all there dreams were about to come true based on their vote for Obama.

Maybe I'm wrong, but that's how you came off in that thread. You seemed to find it silly that people were so pumped to vote that day. While there are always people who do silly things for silly reasons. I would contend that most of the excited people you saw that day were 1) Amazed that they were potentialy voting for the first black President of the United States and 2) Hopeful for the future in light of the events of that day.

I could be way off on this. If so....my bad.

I believe that some black people did think that very thing, yes. And I believe I'm not the only one on the board to think so.

So, I guess you weren't way off on voting for me. Which is fine, everyone's got an opinion. However, I still stand by my evaluation of the reaction.

So you presume to know what black people are thinking? That's quite a gift you've got there.

Ivan, there have been quite a few posts from other members on this board that share my views. There have been people on the news that are reported to have made claims of "Obama's gonna pay off my credit cards" or "pay for my mortgage".

I don't presume anything. I simply comment on what people have actually stated.

How many black people are you basing this on? Just out of curiosity. Are you yourself black? Family members? Friends? With the exception of the goof on ABC 7, when did someone on the news say these things? If I'm not mistaken, "the pay my debt off" comment was posted here by someone who overheard someone else making this comment. Not a news story.

My problem is this. You're always going to have a few idiots who are incapable of grasping basic concepts and having independent thought. Same was true for the people at the McCain rally's claiming they were affraid of Obama 'cause he was a terrorist. Or others who yelled such gems as "traitor" and "kill him". It's important that we don't lump these people in with everyone else.

I base my theory on my personal feelings that day as well as those of my friends, family, and othe black people I talked to that day and the days before the election. I'm just not sure how you came up with your assessment.

Since Wednesday shes walking around smiling ear to ear telling people its "our time" and saying to white people "ya ll had your turn"

I dont know how many balck people fall into this category. But theyre can be no denying they exist.

Okay, and so what?

Did you read anything that was said between the part you quoted and now? Are all us crackers racist idiots just because some morons, like Nas and KI point out, yelling "terrorist" and other nonsense at McCain rallies?

I'm basing this off of a few black people that I have heard say things I find to be illogical, including friends of mine, family members, and people I work with. The frequency of these comments from multiple people lead me to believe that others outside of the few examples I have may also hold similar views. I am not black, but do have a Mexican heritage. If people reacted in this manner if a Hispanic was elected to the Presidency, I would hold the same opinion.

This is a very good point, and if you remember in a different thread I also discussed how those "gems" offended me because of groupthink.

As you know, minorities often feel a sense of pride when someone who shares their racial make up accomplishs something that was previously seen as close to imposible. I assume you too have felt this before. While some may go overboard in their expectations and enthusiasm, I don't believe that was the ovewhelming case this time. I was not only proud of what President-elect Obama ( :D ) accomplished, I was proud that black people were coming together to take part in a process that affects their lives. Something else I hadn't seen to this extent in my lifetime...

For the record, I don't think you're a Douchebag, I just disagreed with something you said. This post caused me to remember your previous statement. It just happend to be in the DB forum...

Ivan, you backed away from the opportunity to have a perfectly good pissing match. You are a sissy in my eyes.

Where's the real KRAZY Ivan? Where is he? And who replaced him with this, this...sissy boy?

No need for a fight. I enjoy intelligent disagreements. Something very difficult to come by on this board lately.

By the way, Kid. Make sure you guard me at the upcoming Hoops fiasco. :weelchairbb: Why is that the only basketball emoticon?

what amazed me is the number of athletes and entertainers in their 30s that never voted before this election.
but, that's not what won Obama the election. those of us that "had our time" already....VOTED FOR OBAMA!!!
that's why he won, not because Donovan McNabb and Charles Tillman voted for the first time.

Good point, doug. A friend of mine stated this same thing, and even went so far as then suggesting that if everything turns around for the better in our country, cries of "it took a black man to do it" will be heard.

It is especially annoying because Barack doesn't flaunt his race. There must come a time when he is stopped being viewed as the "first black president" and starts being viewed simply as THE president. It's that whole judge him by the content of his character business.

Unfortunately for Barack, I don't think people will ever look at him in a different light. But then again, it is definitely something to be proud of.

Tony Dungy will always be the first black coach to win a super bowl (and Lovie the first to lose one)....Barack Obama will always be the first black president.

he'll be fine.
